What I would like to see is some feedback from folks who are running 40's on stock axles and see how many parts have broken or worn out etc!

Most of the comments are valid but are coming from folks who aren't running 40's!

i have 37's currently and would like to go up to 40's next spring with re-gear!
stay tuned. I’ll post as it happens.
13.5x40’s here on stock axle w/4.10 automatic trans
Lite wheeling, primary dd. Also toad behind motorhome.

I haven't broken any parts. I upgraded my tie rod, drag link, front and rear track bars prior to installing the tires. I believe my ball joints are about to go but that's to be expected with oversized tires for 50k miles.

I have been on 39’s from 37’s. I’d strongly advice upgrading the steering to something like RPM Steering kit and adding a sector shaft brace as well. I can steer with one hand. Handling overall is not great but is improved by adding pressure to the tires. Fuel mileage if you are worried about it…. Just don’t. I went with BFG 39’s over 40’s due to their relatively light weight. Weight and OD both make a big difference so I went as big as possible with as little weight as possible to hopefully keep the 44’s alive.

I’m on Dana 44’s that have been trussed with chrome moly axles shafts and RCV’s up front. I’m running 5.13’s and they seem to be a pretty good fit. I’m guessing if something breaks it will be the ring and pinion but I also don’t plan to use the skinny pedal like an idiot! Although I’ll be installing a super charger soon as well so we will see!

Having never priced a 40” tire, how much do they cost and how long will it last as a daily driver on asphalt?

I paid about $2200. Mine are BFG KO2s (39”) and came with a 40,000mi warranty. Most people and running mud terrain and 40’s and they likely won’t last as long. If you are worried about highway mileage definitely go with an AT over MT.

Its like the stripper with 750 cc implants who looks in the mirror, sees a flat chested teen ager, and decides she's switching them out for 1200s.

Pics? I’m close to ditching my 37” k02s for the 39 K02s as well. Wanted to see how they look ? I find the 37s just look so small on the Gladiator

Not sure if it’s been mentioned, but you won’t be able to carry a spare in the stock location. Not serious, but something to consider.

38s here.

I don’t commute (trader at home) so my driving is leisure in the city and off-road just outside of the city.

If you’re mainly on pavement, 40s would be overkill and you’ll likely have to cough up more dough for more parts to support the big jump in tire size.

You’ll be miserable with 40s in the above scenario besides “cool” factor until someone asks about your off-road adventures and then it will just be weird.

Imo, 38s are perfect.

It’s a step above the common 35 or 37 but not quite all out for 40s.

Let me know if you have any specific questions.

I should add that 40s would have me extremely worried with garages, I’m already just about to scrap the roof in indoor garages with 38s and 2” spacer lift on the Mojave.

I'm trying to decide between 38's and 40's for my JT Rubicon for daily driving. Does anyone have experience they want to share?
Maybe upgrading to a helicopter makes more sense for everyday driving....??

I’ve got milestar Patagonia mt’s.
wanted nitros but back ordered in 40” so Pattie’s were all that I could get in my time crunch.
not disappointed. As a matter of fact will probably get another set if/when needed. These things ride better than stock wildpeak mt’s.
