Now that I've done most of the work...I'm wondering why mount the CVPM back there on the rear cab wall? Total pain in the ass. I get it....the factory did it...but the factory didn't do what you're doing with the video cables.

Mount it under the passenger seat. Shorter video cables, far less interior disassembly, CAN bus availability right there with glovebox removed, ground lugs available on passenger kick panel. You'll save yourself an enormous amount of disassembly/reassembly and much less broken interior trim clips.

If your truck has factory aux switches, just put the CVPM on the ignition on wire. Then just 1 cable to move to engine compartment...the front cam video cable.

Another tidbit for any future readers...

Early on in these threads people would wonder if their trim level would include parts of the front trailcam system....even if their truck didn't come with it. Connectors....harnesses etc..

NOPE. If you are reading this thread desiring the Front Trailcam your truck has NOTHING the system needs. You need all the parts plus an extra hose not in Jimmy's list. My truck is a 9/21 Mojave with 8.4. Completely lacking all required parts and connectors. The writeup is amazing, just need that extra hose 68456244aa on the list and info about reversing the pump wires. @WK2JT provided the final details for me to dream of finishing this. This install is a mother but there is no comparison to aftermarket 480 res cameras with no washer and integration the OEM solution offers. It is worth it. Almost there.

@WK2JT for those who don't want to dick with their washer harness, what's the jumper part #?

So with a 2020 JTR, it's in need of all the parts listed even if I have the backup camera then?

If I wanted to upgrade to the 8.4" screen, is that just a plug and play swap? That seems much more doable.

Possibly. You can check by configuring the BCM for surround view. If it’s going to work, the screen would now display the overhead view on the left, with all the camera soft keys, and the overhead side views would be black.
I can now confirm this does not work. after enabling the settings I got all of the camera options, but all cameras (including the actual front and rear) came up with blue screens. It appears that even though our CVPM looks the same it either has different hardware inside or different software loaded on it.

When you put the trans in reverse, was it just a full blue screen, with no overhead overlay on the left?

If you don't have the front cam, you need all of the parts, including the new backup camera. They're different. Non front trailcam equipped backup cam on left. Front trailcam equipped backup cam on the right. It's bigger and the CVPM needs it.

Just the blue screen. When I hit the surround view button from the app menu I’d get a black screen for a few seconds and then it would go blue with the buttons stretched and I had to hit a the power button to get that screen to go away.

Hopefully I just need to wait longer. I made the settings:

VehConfig 1 rear view camera- NO
VehConfig 2 off road capable- YES
VehConfig 8 off road camera present- YES
ECUConfig 3 rear camera present- NO
CBC Features reversible washer pump enabled- YES
CBC Config I/O connector A pin 14- YES
CustSetMenu 1 Rear View Camera Gridlines CSM Present- NO
CustSetMenu 1 Rear Camera CSM Present- NO
CustSetMenu 3 Auto Launch Forward Facing Camera Off Road Plus CSM Present- NO
CustSetMenu 3 Auto Launch Off Road Plus CSM Present- YES
CustSetMenu 3 Forward Facing Camera Gridlines CSM Present- YES
CustSetMenu 3 Rear CVPM Camera Dynamic Gridlines CSM Present- YES
CustSetMenu 3 Rear CVPM Camera Static Gridlines CSM Present- YES
Cabin Net CVPM central vision processing- YES

And 24 hours have passed. I turned the truck on, both cameras are there in Apps, Offroad Pages has the Trailcam button, but nothing happens when you press the buttons. In Cameras, the option to turn the Forward Camera gridlines on and off is present. When I select it, the box gets a checkmark, but then the checkmark goes away on its own. Putting the truck into reverse, blue screen, Camera System unavailable.

Connect to AlfaOBD again and read system settings. Oddly, "ECUConfig 3 rear camera present" was set to Yes. I am positive I hit that yesterday. I am hoping that is why the 8.4 unit had the options but nothing happened when pressing the buttons. I changed ECUConfig 3 rear camera present to No again and am waiting for the best again.

This is an awesome write up but it's way beyond my pay grade of ability and desire. I tip my cap to those that can do this. If I feel the desire to have one, I'll adapt a Garmin or other type wireless back up camera and use my factory aux switches. Great job on this.

I think I figured out my problem, and it is an expensive fix. Based on some codes the CVPM threw, it seems like it doesn't recognize the commands my BCM or 8.4 is sending. On a hunch I checked the part # of the CVPM I ordered from Jimmy's post ( not his fault, he made this thread in 2020 )...

2020 and 2021/2022 are 2 different CVPM part numbers. I installed a 2020 into my 2021 Gladiator. Son of a....

Looks like I made a $350 mistake on my install. Naturally it was the most expensive part.

You read my mind. If I really want a front camera I'll buy a RF backup camera and mount it on the front.

Or I'll sell my gladiator and buy a new one with the front cam. It appears that it would be cheaper, simpler, and less stressful. Ha.

The parts list has bit me in the ass hard....just burned $350 on the wrong CVPM. 2021/2022 need CVPM part number 4672861AB.

Holy hell....

Yeah I'm out on this as an upgrade, I'll manage without. Maybe just upgrading to an 8.4" screen is easier and start there... :(

Below is @Jimmy07's original Mopar parts list, with my edits in yellow. Important info if you are going to try this. I've gone through the entire install now. Don't forget you also need the harness ( not sold by FCA, Jimmy will sell you a custom one ) and 4 Fakra Z pre-made coaxial cables as well as these parts:

Front camera- 68436466AA
Front camera bracket- 68396626AB - I think this is a typo. The part is 68396526AB
(2) Camera bracket nut- 06510197AA
(2) camera bracket screw- 68090949AA
Camera grille section- 6QN24RXFAC
CVPM- 68329740AE for 2020 Gladiators ONLY. 2021/2022 CANNOT USE THIS PART!!! FOR 2021/2022, use part # 4672861AB
(2) CVPM bolts- 06104378AA
(2) CVPM snap nut- 06506955AA
Camera washer hose between nozzle elbow and 2nd hose - 68370828AA
Camera washer hose between pump and 1st hose above - 68456244AA
Camera washer nozzle- 68370210AA
Washer nozzle elbow- 68370825AA
Washer Pump- 68310928AA
There is a different part number for the washer pump jumper harness, but I don’t think it’s necessary since the wiring is the same except for one different colored wire. @bryanklay will confirm, and I’ll update this. < the harness is $23, save yourself depinning the harness you have. If you don't rewire yours or buy the harness, your Clean Camera button will wash the windshield and your wiper stalk will clean the camera. You want 68428691AA >

Aside from the year-specific CVPM, all of the parts listed work for all model years of Gladiator through 2022. Just get the right CVPM. The 2020 CVPM on my 2021 behaved this way:

Shift to Reverse: both cameras work.

Press any camera button, front or rear, in the 8.4 - nothing. CVPM would throw codes. Codes indicated it didn't recognize the BCM or the commands it was being sent. It's really strange. In Reverse, I can select each camera from the touch screen on the top left, even zoom the rear camera. Back in Drive, the buttons do nothing. Even the Trailcam button in Off Road Pages does nothing. Who knows what's changed in the 2021+ CVPM. Just get that one if you are 2021+.

Thanks to @WK2JT for the info about the washer hose. Sucks I am the guy who hit the CVPM issue.

I am selling it here:

https://www.jeepgladiatorforum.com/...2020-gladiator-oem-front-trailcam-part.56756/

If you have a 2020, it is the part you need and you can save some money,
