In my previous vehicles when i hit the cruise button to activate the cruise control, it stays activated after i shut the vehicle off/on. However my '20 JT always turns it off after i shut the jeep off. So next time i get in i have to turn it back on if i want to use the cruise. Is there a way to lock it in so that it's always active?

I have a Tazer JL Mini installed if that gives an alternate option as well.

Only vehicle I have owned that keeps the cruise on after shutdown/restart is my son's mitsubishi. Audi, subaru, ford, other jeeps, all have to be turned on after each start.

My experience also. I've never owned a car where the CC stayed on after a power cycle.

Same here. I'm pretty sure my old TJ would turn it off with a key cycle and all my Fords definitely did.

Both of my Silverado's i had before my JT and my wife's Acadia all keep theirs on after power cycles.
I was kind of guessing that it is a chevy thing. I have never owned a chevy before. My rental equinox stayed on I think.

Yep. All the Chevys I’ve owned have, but none of the Jeeps.

I think it was my 1984 Jeep J10 pickup (or some other clunker in the past) that had a toggle switch to turn on or off cruise. In that case you could leave the switch on. I have not experienced a modern car that leaves cruise on when you kill the engine.

It's a safety thing.. I have never known a vehicle that once the ignition has been cycled on/off to keep the memory that the cruise was on .

Why would it be unsafe? You still need to set it.

I can confirm the GM vehicles that I've owned leave the CC engaged after the key cycle (2008 & 2015). They don't recall the previously set speed, but just that cruise is still engaged. It's handy to just press set once you reach a cruising speed instead of turning CC on and then pressing set. That said I believe they are the only vehicles I've owned that do this. Our current '22 Subaru Outback and the JTO of course require it to be turned on every time you start the vehicle. I've never really understood the difference though. If it was a safety thing you would think the liability alone would make it a reason to why GM wouldn't do it. The inconvenience of having to press the CC button each time is offset by not having to press the fog light switch every time though. The GM vehicles I have owned require the fog light switch to be pressed every time.

My Hondas and VWs remembered if cruise was on or not. I don't see it being a safety thing, because you still have to set engage it. It seems like some brands enable a memory, others don't. I do wish that jeep did.

My wife's Honda Ridgeline has its cruise control retain the last off or on setting for every ignition cycle.

I think Jeep did it for a safety thing as this is what they put in their manual. They dont want it engaged until it is about to be used which means not on when you turn on vehicle regardless of whether a speed is set or not.

Doubt you can change it as it is probably not a setting that can change. Never had a single vehicle that left it “on” between start cycles.

My point of view is what is so hard about hitting one small button with your finger to turn it on? A lot of people today would freak over old cars that had chokes, etc. How would they ever drive with everything they had to do when getting the car going? And OMG actually physically turning a dial to find a radio station.

I think we have all gotten lazy. IMHO.
