HPFP recall done- fuel filter isn’t replaced?

I just got my Jeep back from having the high-pressure fuel pump recall performed. I was shocked to see that the service does not include changing the old filter out. I confirmed with the service advisor that that is not something that is done during the recall. I don’t mind changing the filter myself, but I’m just curious if this is standard practice with everyone else who has had the recall done. It seems nonsensical to me to replace the fuel pump (just the pump, no failure experienced) without inspecting the fuel filter or replacing it. I can confirm that the filter was never pulled because there is still mud on the mounting bolts.

and this surprises you how? Companies do the bare minimum required to keep costs down and profits high. If a recall investigation didn't find a fault caused by the filter then they have no obligation to change it.

Going above and beyond is dead in this word.

The fuel filter isn't part of the recall. If you want changed. You either tell them to do it. Or do it yourself

They can pull the solenoid on the pump and inspect the screen. If there is anything on it. The pump is failing.

Per the recall instructions, if the vehicle is running and driving fine when it's brought in then only the fuel pump replacement procedure is done. If the vehicle cannot run and the cause is determined to be a shelled out pump, then the "contaminated" procedure is performed. Kinda crappy if you ask me as there may be debris in a system that hasn't completely failed, but that's direct from Stellantis. I wouldn't count on the dealership to even bother to pull the pump solenoid to inspect the screen of a running vehicle.

They inspected my filter and asked me if i want to replace it for $267 due to it looking dirty, told them nope as i just changed it 1000mi prior.

Hard to believe that is standard practice we own 4 eco diesel Jeeps 3 Jt's and 1 Jlur . My dealer replace pump and solenoid on 2 and pumps on the other 2 but not only changed filters on all 4 but also replaced the fuel filter for free on the first oil change afterwards. I have found there are huge difference in dealers and the way the take care of the customer's. We had zero issues before the pumps and still zero issues afterwards literally 180k miles combined with zero issue's

So they went through all the labor Removed and reinstalled but wanted 267 to install a new filter? I'd say you screwed them right. by making them eat the labor.

Unfortunately, it’s common practice for some dealerships to make maintenance claims based on mileage alone, never having actually inspected the part. They often assume that if there’s no record in their system of the maintenance being done, it hasn’t been done.

that is why it's a good idea to use a paint pen and mark all parts with a mileage and date so they can't argue.

they put a new filter in mine but the paperwork didnt show it .

I called one dealership and the wanted $340 for fuel filter, called another one and they said it was included in recall. Never got charged for it.

I was told I would be getting a new filter with my recall but I don’t think I did. Either way, I drove it another 15k miles with whatever filter was in there.
