Ok i have a gladiator overland with 3.73 gears i spoke to my dealership about re-gearing as they lifted it and but 35's with 17 inch rims at time of purchase below is their response is this true?????

"Rod,
After researching this I am not sure I have the best news. 4:10 gears require a different housing to install, from what our shop foreman and the parts department have researched. Then the guts of it also. After pricing out complete units are actually the lesser expensive option. 10% over on parts 3223.00 front + 175 labor and 3036.00 rear + 175 labor. Additionally you would needs a unit that calibrates the ABS, Trac control etc, otherwise the signals going to the PCM will be wrong. That unit costs about 300 bucks to my understanding. I am basing my information off of what I am being told by folks that know alot more technically than me. There me be another way, but I would have no way of finding that out. Jeep forum maybe ? Not sure how you would want to proceed on this, or if you would ven want to proceed. Let me know."

Sounds a bit high on the price side but overall yes that is correct.

The carrier for 3.73 gears can not take anything bigger so a new carrier is required for 4.10 or higher. If you're going with 37's i would probably be going to 4.56 gears honestly. I have 4.10's in my Sport with 35's and if I went any bigger tires I would go 4.56. My JK has 4.56 and 37's. It is great overall with that ratio.

See if there is an offroad shop by you that will have a more competitive price.

It sounds to me like they priced out axle assemblies instead of a ring and pinion swap. I would not take a job like that to the dealer, most are not really set up to handle a lot of aftermarket type modifications. I would look for a performance or off road shop in your area.

Rebel Offroad in CA quoted me $1599 plus tax to do 538s front and rear in my Sport S

When I regeared my JK from 4.10 to 4.56 a few years ago it was $1600 as well (which covered front and rear, including labor). From a reputable jeep-centric independent shop. Dealer will always be costly.

Also the overland has the narrower axles...you could also swap in some Rubi axles (I've seen them for sale from time to time) or sport S axles and get the wider stronger axles at the same time. If you get these with the 4.10s and 35s you'd be set and they are a very easy swap.
