I was out and about and I saw this…..this……Gladiator type vehicle with, JK door handles, a fuel door in the wrong place, JK Rubicon font decal on the hood, strange older style grill…. I thought….WTH?

Then it drove past and I saw it was a Brute. I’ve seem to have missed the couple of conversations about Brutes around here but thought it was interesting as I’ve never heard of it.

I still like and would consider a Brute - but only if it has a Hemi. I see some for sale with the original pentastar every now and then and it just doesn't seem worth it.

Edited to add - see the link in my sig for a cool video about them. Only ever ran in to one in-person before, oddly enough was in NZ.

Those were pretty pricey too if I remember. a dealer here in Omaha had a 2 door version.

Love it! Wanted to mention by the way, the site you linked to is not who built these Brutes. This was a build done by AEV (You can see their logo on the side and back) before the Gladiator was in production.

Good add. That makes sense as why there was no “truck” on that site.

I feel somewhat sorry for those folks that dropped all of that money on Brute conversions now that the JT is here. They just kind of blend in now instead of standout like they once did. And lets face it, the people who paid for them wanted to stand out amongst the sea of JKs.

AEV also sold the parts in kits to build your own; something like 15-18 grand. Supply your own Jeep, along with cutting, welding, and body work skills.

They was doing the conversions and kits since back in TJ generation, I wanted to get one then but procrastinated to long.? I still want one of TJ version with 4.0 and 6 speed or with XJ AW-4 transmission. I already had 3 Jeep's then.. ?
If you want to see a sticker shock see what the TJ version sell for. Last one I seen in good shape was about what a loaded Rubicon JT or JLU list for.

I always loved them, but they were out of my price range. They were $35-40k on top of the Wrangler itself, add another $20k for the 5.7.

I always love to see the AEV fanboys still hold these up as being better looking and crapping on Gladiators. I love to hit them with this picture.
