Wanted to entitle this post "ineligible for tsb because of mopar lift, or complete incompetence by stealership." I took my jeep to the stealership today to get it checked out for the TSB. I drove it back from west texas this weekend and it was unbearable to drive. White knuckle driving the entire trip. Every bump at 60+ felt like I was going to swerve into the other lane.

When I took it to the stealership the suit at the desk told me that he checked out my problem and that he recommends a track bar and a steering stabilizer (which I intend to do down the road, but I am not placing a bandaid over jeep's broken leg). He told me that the only problem with the steering is that I have 35s and only a mopar lift. I asked him several times why the mopar lift doesnt come with these components if these are potential problems. He had no answer. I walked to the parts desk and asked the parts guy if this was a potential problem (I approached him as if I were a prospective customer). He thought it was a ridiculous question and of course you shouldn't compromise drivability by installing a mopar lift kit and the 35 inch tires which the kit states it is capable of running. So these two gentlemen were on completely different pages.

I went back and talked to the suit behind the desk about the TSB. I asked him if the steering box in my truck is steel or aluminum. He stated that the TSB states that the steel and aluminum parts are for different vehicles. My gladiator doesn't have such a part available, according to suit.

Quite frankly, I have no idea what is going on with Huffines if DFW. I am pretty forlorn about the whole situation. I have wanted a jeep for a very long time and saved up to buy one, and now it is extremely unenjoyable to drive. Not only is it a very unpleasant driving experience, but the people at the dealership who are supposed to help me fix my $45k truck seem to lack the knowledge requisite to fix my problem, and the ambition necessary to at least be of some modicum of help.

What would you guys say the next step for me is? Do I take it to another stealership? Do I just buy the trackbar and steering stabilizer and install myself? Do I go trade the gladiator in and go with the Chevy Bison that I was thinking about? I really wanted my wife's next vehicle to be a grand wagoneer when they come out, but if this is how service works with Jeep then I can't imagine spending that much for an SUV. @JeepCares

Here's the paperwork:

Go to a different dealer. Call the service department of several dealerships to see if that TSB has been seen and fixed accordingly. Do your research and you will probably find a better place to get your truck maintained at.

Use the wording from the TSB to describe the problem with the steering. The TSB is quite clear of what is to be done when the customer has that specific complaint.

That dealership fool is full of you-know-what. The aluminum steering gear is what came from the factory on Wrangler AND JT trucks in 2020. Period.
The cast steel steering gear is for both - show them the part numbers listed in the TSB - make them look at it and read it.
Further, when you get the email survey, give them all 0s and explain in detail how they treated you like you knew nothing and refused to honor the TSB.
Make sure you convey either in that survey or some other means - or both, how badly they treated you and how you have the TSB and the dealership is outright lying.

Just because you bought it at a specific dealership doesn't mean you have to take it there for warranty issues. You shouldn't have to but it's just the way it is. Do yourself a favor and go somewhere else. Then call FCA customer service and file a complaint. I've done this. They are very interested in finding dealerships that give customers a hard time with warranty issues. Name service advisors by name. Jay at FCA called me weekly to follow up to make sure my warranty issue was fixed. I went out of state to buy my Jeep for this reason and have had excellent treatment and service at said dealership. Will only go to local place for Jeep Wave oil changes. All other warranty issues I will go an hour away unfortunately, but worth it.

Don't forget about the survey every dealership worries about getting all 5 stars in every block. Don't forget to note that your going to use different dealership from now on in remarks and do that.

Plenty of other dealerships have upheld the TSB on Jeeps with aftermarket tires, wheels, suspension parts and lift kits.

1) Find a different dealer to do this work.

2) Give the flunky dealership zero scores on the survey.

Thanks for the feedback yall. I was starting to think I might be the crazy one who didn't take the proper steps when getting my mopar lift. I thought I was living in the twilight zone.

One question: How do I get the survey to rate this dealership? I haven't gotten anything about that yet... very curious.

yes sir, I totally agree. This was most certainly not the dealership from which I bought my jeep. I bought my jeep out in west texas and took it somewhere in dallas for this tsb. I tried to buy a jeep from this stealership initially, now I am so glad I went outta town. I plan to set up an appointment at another dfw dealership.

Just curious what the cost of the parts are IF you decided to do the steering box replacement yourself? I am not advocating letting any dealership off the hook but if you had more money than time I wonder what it would set you back to just do it yourself instead of playing games with a D-bag dealer.

Oh, if you look at the paperwork they gave me, the wrong email is provided. That is probably why I didn't get a survey. There's and additional knock. @JeepCares i'd love to get one of those surveys....

Read the TSP. Hand it to them. All you need to do is complain. They have to fix it unless it’s out of alignment.

mine jus went in. No issues at all...lift and all.

Here's a link to the same part, but aftermarket. I actually thought about fixing it myself, but $250 + my time is too steep.
