Installing a dead pedal, should be simple, right?

And it sure looks like it, except for getting the BLASTED nuts off that the dead pedal I bought mounts to! It's the two 13mm nuts behind the brake pedal on the firewall. I've got a box wrench, goes on fine, but did Jeep bloody use red Loctite on the things?

Try as I might, I could NOT get the blasted things to budge even a fraction. I've got a 13mm socket, but I need a deep throat socket (the bolts are long,) and I'm not sure using a socket wrench would be any better.

So, any suggestions? The pedal in question is the DV8 Offroad dead pedal for JT Jeeps (automatics, like mine.) I don't have a big toolbox, so I don't have anything I could use as a "cheater" bar (not that there's much room for one!) I suppose I could go get a deep 13mm socket that would work on my impact driver and try that to get the nuts off...

Yeah, of the ones I looked at, I liked the looks of this one more and the others all mounted to the side rather than in front like this.

There is another brand of dead pedal that uses only the left bolt. Some folks have opted to just get another nut since there is enough thread showing. Based on the picture in the instructions, it looks like the same for that right bolt. I am not sure of the nut size, but it may be an option instead of trying to remove the existing nuts.

A couple people suggested penetrating oil (that's what she SAID!) so I gave each a shot of WD40 and got them off! Now I have a dead pedal and I suspect it's going to be a LOT more comfortable on long drives!

Thank you to everyone here!

I just installed the Quadratec dead pedal and had to remove 1 nut. I have a deep socket but I couldn't get both arms and my upper body under the dash enough to get the nut loose and that sucker is on tight!!. Finally I had the need to use that 20" ratchet extension that I bought years ago!
I haven't driven it yet, but I can tell it is going to be a comfortable addition to my Gladiator.

I looked at the Quadratec and decided that while it's probably silly, I preferred two points of attachment over a single point...

But then again, I KNOW I over-engineer the heck out of stuff, so...

Can you slide it down the bolt and use another nut on top? That’s how I mounted mine.
Same problem here. Looks like red lock tite was used from the factory. Do you remember the nut size?

I don’t. I found one in my garage that fit. I’m pretty sure it’s metric thread
Thanks. I'll buy a few and go trial and error.

New problem. Pretty sure it's an M8 but I had the wrong thread. M8-1.25 did the trick.
