They can get all that by simply plugging your new VIN into their computer............ funny anyone asks these days.

You can actually change your insurance through the app on the fly… you do input your vin but they ask for passive/ active security… auto braking and stuff still… I agree feel like they would be able to figure out off vin but it gives you an instant price change… takes 2 mins kinda convenient if you purchase a vehicle on the weekend

I don’t know if it had anything to do with cruise control but I did find it odd that progressive gave me a discount on the 2021 gladiator from my 2017 Titan. Not hugely significant, about $55 less on the 6 month rate between the two. The wrangler was always prorated higher due to glass coverage but apparently not the Glady?

I test drove a gladiator with adaptive cruise and it handled smoothly though no one cut into my lane. From what I gather here not all mfr systems work as well.

I think it depends on where you live too, I live in the Tampa area and get cut off at least once a day on the highway which means the car is suddenly trying to brake hard because all of the sudden there is someone in front of you. It's also why my insurance almost quadrupled when i moved my car from North Carolina to here.

It's insane, and then the one time my car gets hit while parked the other driver is shockingly uninsured. The insurance agents i've talked to said that is a large part of the crazy rates in Florida though.

And likely drives more safely than the 20 year old female who is talking on the phone, texting and putting on makeup while "driving".
Yes, we actually see that here, even my wife comments about young women drivers - often with a kid in the seat and texting and not paying attention to anything. You can tell because they can't stay off the shoulder or away from the center line and their speed is very inconsistent.

Another thought on the harshness of adaptive cruise reacting to a car suddenly pulling in front of you: Shouldn't we as drivers be aware and be able to react faster than adaptive cruise? I can usually anticipate if a car is going to jump in my lane.
I'm sure the ACC isn't designed to deal with that but rather the more common ebb and flow of highway traffic, and not as a substitute for basic driver awareness.

Sure, if humans were perfect. Even you can't react faster, no matter how great you think you are or believe you are. Not possible. And if you are talking to anyone in that vehicle, wife, kid, friend - your reaction time just went up. I could point to a whole slew of tests by universities and others that prove my points.
Why do you think that use use a starter pistol at track events?
Because it's a proven fact that the signal from ear to brain is faster than eye to brain and people react MEASURABLY faster to the pistol than a light.
There's the gorilla study, the teddy bear on the back bumper study and many others that prove you don't see or react like you believe you do.

Our insurance is always based on the VIN - so when they plug the vin in, and run their numbers, that's what we pay. WE have no idea what options give what discount.
The JT is very expensive compared to my wife's Grand Cherokee, which surprised me but I suppose they figure it's a vehicle that may get abused compared to a WK2 that's going to be mostly on the road and good roads at that.
And yeah, What Kevin said - no one can tell you what to expect as every company is different.
It will depend - we bundle things and have no claims for over a decade and have been with the company since 1982, etc. etc. so even if I shot you a price - there's no way you could do anything based on that.
Ask YOUR insurance company! Too many variables - your LOCATION will matter, too - insurance rates in some states and cities are a whole lot higher than others.

Yep, USAA charges quite a bit more for my Rubi diesel than our WK2 high altitude with all the bells and whistles.

They both had a similar msrp.

Look in your policy and there will/should be a list of discounts for air bags, theft recovery, drl’s, multi car, etc.
If you’ve got something else, ask them. Ask them what all discounts are available.

You may have misunderstood what I was getting at.

I can anticipate by paying attention to driver behavior likely better than modern proximity sensors. Does the sensor know that the car advancing with its only clear path being the lane in front of me, will switch lanes soon as it clears my front bumper? This is where I would anticipate and override adaptive cruise, no?
