Like it's never happened with a gas vehicle?

Why would you say inevitable when it's shown (read that as PROVEN) that EVs are LESS likely to burst info flames.

You pick on rare incidents, and it wasn't even laid out the cause of the fire, and suddenly they'll all burst into flames.

I guess that Camaros and Mustangs and F150s need to be banned, too, as I've seen them frying along I80 and I35 here.
Lithium batteries burn 4-5x’s hotter than gas and can reignite, plus are impossible to put out as easily as gas and diesel

Ev is a solution we didnt ask for to a problem that never was

range isn't high enough and charge times are too long to make it feasible or worthwhile. I wouldn't want to wait the 45 minutes for a charge over the 5 minute gas up.

As much as I'd like to set up a solar farm at my bugout cabin and never have to worry about gas.

I think the smartest move is still going diesel (for that survival scenario)
Gut emissions, figure out a cooling solution and its golden

Because internal combustion motors are incredibly cheap to build and easily achieve high power while serving a distinct purpose. The trade off in fuel economy and emissions is balanced by the reliability and low operating costs.

We're decades away from widespread BEV adoption in the "must work reliably in every instance, all the time" world. I'm referring to heavy duty use like emergency management, (police, fire, emt, disaster response) off road construction, military readiness. Aside from test balloon situations, it just isn't there and won't be there for a long, long time.

Don't get me wrong, I geek out over the idea of BEVs- the power, speed, tech is pretty wild. But the harsh reality is that for the majority of use cases outside major metros and the coasts, BEV practicality isn't there for a long time. Hybrids OTOH are the best option for the majority of people but they still have those evil IC motors attached.

Agreed. The weight, distance limitations, repair options, etc., make them completely impractical in something like a Jeep. I don't understand why people who enjoy the outdoors, and especially backcountry travel, would be in any hurry to jump on board.
