I like gunmetal/onyx/anthracite/whatever you want to call a deep glossy grey, more than black.

The contrast doesn't make the tires look so washed out and grey like a black wheel does, it looks classy, it doesn't disappear into the wheel wells, and it goes with every body color the same as black does.

I'm also seeing a bit of a fad developing that I kind of hate to admit I like a lot- the red wheels, in particular with a black bead lock ring. A bit flashy but the only thing that kept me away from getting a set for my on-order gobi is the heavy offset.

Looking on the internet for different shots of gator, it almost looked like a green tint in the color. Bronze would look pretty cool with that
I personally think of Gator as green but yes it is an odd color that is interpreted differently by many people. I’ve had some call it brown, tan, olive, green, taupe etc. I think it just depends on the light at the time.

That certainly looks green in that bottom color. That sun reflection on that wall is a coral color and that actually accents the truck well.

For my taste, I think Gator can pull off several wheel colors. My choice was the Fuel Beast which is listed as "Black Machined with Dark Tint" which basically looks dark brown / bronze in person. IMO it's a perfect compliment to Gator.

Pictures don't always pick up the color properly, but here's a decent look:

Personally, I don't buy any wheel that I cant rattle can the scratches away. Usually, that leaves me with the matte black variety.

I've debated changing to bronze several times, but the gunmetal gray are hanging on . I've also never been a fan of black as they all look the same from more than 20 feet away. However, I've been told several times my Jeep would look badass with black wheels ?. So it really is personal preference.

You've literally got the baddest ass wheels on this thread. Black would totally ruin what you've got going on.

It's a little close to black for my taste but it looks good on yours, and might look good on Gobi if that would appear to lighten it with the contrast.

I am considering changing my Black Rhino wheels in OD (17x9.5") to something else. My JT is Gator. The OD looks good but the wheel style to me looks too heavy. I want something with more open space. Every design under the sun is made in black but I am not sure I want black, although it would match my fenders and hard top color. I am considering Raceline satin beadlocks or some burnt bronze wheels such as KMC Dirty Harrys. I dont want chrome. thoughts? Anyone with a Gator and a satin or bronze wheel?
Who cares. All this conversation about stinking wheels. Put on what YOU like and go with it.

My uncle had a beautiful dark red (like Snazberry) ‘87 Corvette with tan top and tans interior with matching matte gold/bronzish colored wheels. Stunning car, wheels made it stand out.

Depending on color of the vehicle makes the difference in how colored wheels look. Hydro Blue is a standout color, black subdued wheels looks good, as does machined and silver, and any shade of grey in between. I’ve yet to see a HB Jeep I’ve liked with any other colored wheels. Same for Gecko, Punk’n, and Firecracker.

But you know what they say about opinions…

The entire point of a forum is to discuss things. In this 1, we're discussing wheels. You're under no obligation to post here (put 2 asterisks [*] simultaneously in your next post if you're here against your will). OP asked for OPINIONS about the wheels, so we gave ours :)

@Bantam I think it has something to do with your opinion is sacred and yours and you can/should express it as freely as you want!... until it doesn't line up with certain other's... then you're biggoted and the source of all the world's problems :P

I was tired of black wheels also. I went with Quadratec Recon wheels in gun metal gray. Contrast looks good.

I have 5 of these wheels in my basement. I bought them for my JK but never mounted them. They are still in their original packaging.

Every time I see a picture of your JT, I get the itch to buy new tires and put them on my JT.

Then I look up the current tire prices and decide to keep the stock tires and wheels on for now. I think they will look great with my Crystal Granite.

Pretty much, anymore. Not sure why we allow discussions of opinions at all.
Change the thread title to “Wheels are neat”, lock the thread and put a poll with one option only: Yes.
