Is it just me, or is the cruise control horrible?

2023 Gladiator Rubicon, 6cyl gas, just under 11k on it. Mine is inconsistent too (4-5 mph) and the 8 speed auto trans NEVER knows what gear to get in, which KILLS the gas mileage (I've yet to see better than 16mpg...) let alone the 17-22 mpg lie that was on the window sticker...

I would try having the dealer put the transmission back into Learn mode. There could be other issues, but that's where I would start. Also, try some Sea Foam treatment in the fuel tank.

2024 - 8 speed auto here. Does the same - will downshift probably one too many gears and get the RPMS up way more than needed. I just did a 6hr drive this weekend and ended up putting it in cruise control and manually shifting. Not sure there is anything else you can do?

Same after a 10 hour trip x2 then a 6 hour trip x2, while towing.
I use it but only on the highway and often keep it in manual.
2nd trip was through the mountains and I was not comfortable in cruise control.
Crazy how people drive through winding mountain roads, I started to go faster without the trailer after a few days of being there, but still often didn't even hit the 55 speed limit...

No complaints here. Probably stay within a mile or 2 of the set point. Stock wheels , auto trans.
