I can't speak to the power needs, but the net of this video is you have to already be a Jeep Wrangler enthusiast, desire a pickup to want a Gladiator.
I need a pickup, and I came from a long history of full-sized trucks and decided - I no longer needed a full-sized truck in size or capability.
So it was a combination - wanted a Wrangler, NEEDED a truck, I got both in a way. Very satisfied.
If you are careful, you can find a lot of factual, solid, correct, even scientific YT videos out there, but it's like trying to find a good piece of fruit in a garbage dump. Most is opinion from those who love to be seen on video and make $$ in the process. You can tell they love to be seen - just look at the stupid goofy faces they make to promote their videos.

I’m surprised I made it through the whole video.

The guy is not entirely wrong, though… I just disagree with some of his opinions. But I think his goal is views, and I watched, so I guess that’s a win?

And yes, if Jeep had a Hemi with a $1500 up charge, they would sell a ton of them… including to me. But that’s not reality.

I also think the gladiator is a niche of a niche market.

It's basically a wrangler with a bed, so the development costs were low. They've sold over 300,000 of them yet...it's a failure. Only in America, baby.

I'd add that, while to some extent the Gladiator cannibalizes some sales from the Wrangler, a lot of the buyers come over from pickup trucks and would otherwise buy pickup trucks. I'm one of those buyers. So, it was a low-cost way to boost sales of the True Jeeps.

Agreed.

I’m selling my Tundra… the Gladiator is the replacement.

Iff Ben Hardy went back to that dealership today I doubt he would find all those 2022 Gladiators still there. If they weren't selling, they'd still be there. Ben Hardy is one of those youtube personalities who doesn't seem to really know much about what he's talking about.

How one gets to the selling/buying price, be it low MSRP with no discounts or a high MSRP with steep discounts, if a deal can be reached, a sale will be made. Jeep tried marketing Wranglers and Gladiators as premium vehicles with premium prices but it didn't turn out so well. Can't blame them for trying I guess. Now that reality has set in, the discounts are great.

He sounds like a typical YT try-hard that will eventually need to go get a real job and contribute to society.

I can see how one would think that in a normal thinking world. Youtube gives us gems like the old man yells at clouds like the Scotty Kilmer channel that tells us there is a vast low information crowd that will consume garage content of any variety.

The fact that Ben Hardy's name even come up here will still drive traffic to him even if negative.

Rather ironic, blasting or criticizing such videos only serves to increase their click count and sends more money their way. So by telling everyone how rotten and stupid they are, you are putting quarters in their pockets.

But how to do it otherwise? Good question.
