Been buying vehicles for many years but I have never had a vehicle loose so much value in a short amount of time. Was thinking...about going back to a RAM however, most dealers are only offering me 44k for my 2021 Rubicon which is loaded. MSRP of 63k May of 2021, I paid 56k. 12k in 16 months? It's very consistent through the dealers, KBB instant cash, CarMax, Auto Nation and Edmunds etc.
I bought the Gladiator thinking it would hold it's value but at this point, seems I was seriously mistaken. Is this the same in your area?
I invest in precious metals, the market, and real estate looking to increase the value of what I have invested. I invested in my Rubicon Gladiator for the value of having a Jeep, a fun vehicle, and as it turns out... a dependable way to see the desert. I did not invest in it to make money, hold an unreasonable value, or provide for my retirement. Way back, I invested in my '72 Ford Pinto Squire wagon for much the same reason.

In my area. 4x4 prices go up in the fall and low in the spring. Everyone wants a 4x4 for the snow. Come spring, no demand.

The only cars that go up in value are some exotics. Ferrari's, air cooled Porsches, etc.

I invest in precious metals too. Namely lead for casting bullets. That Pinto makes you an old old fart.

If you're looking at the Gladiator as an investment then it's a bad investment.

Is your vehicle at 8 miles like when you bought it? That is the way to tell what the resale value is. If you put any mileage on it, then obviously it's going to drop more. Take a look at Bring a Trailer at some of the 'newish' vehicles where someone purchased and then didn't put any miles on. They actually sell pretty well pending the model.
If you're looking for investment, take your money and stuff it into an Index500 type fund.

Unless its a collector or very special limited edition model, NO vehicle is an investment. The depreciation kills you and if its a lemon, it becomes a money pit. The Gladiator is not that special, yes, its a pickup that Jeep hasnt had for several years, but all in all, its just another optioned out mid sized truck.

Buying any new vehicle is a bad INVESTMENT.
I actually don't think that depreciation is that bad considering you bought at the peak of the crazy car market and how it's starting to come down.
Well....unless you bought a 2005 Heritage Ford GT. ..... haha

Excellent investment.

1. Cheaper than a psychiatrist and provides real therapy.

2. Auto loan is probably 10x less interest than credit card debt for useless crap you would buy to fill the Jeep-less hole in your life.

3. You will drive it frequently and won’t be drinking beer while doing so. Saves money on beer and future doctor bills.

4. You can live in the truck bed when the wife kicks you out after listing the first three points. No rent or mortgage.

Most vehicles are not an investment, they are a depreciating purchase.
Amen brother

Unless your into the collection market......your average daily driver is a depreciating asset aka a liability. The days of buying, driving and flipping for a surplus are done.

Want a asset, you have to pay asset money. 69 COPO Camaro, early 2000s Ford GT40s, Buick GNX and so on. Those are assets and have 6 digit buy ins.......not a 60k Jeep.

Now if you want to invest in Jeeps.......buy a damn Trackhawk and put it in a bubble in your garage and it will be worth 4-10x in the next decade.

Wranglers and Gladiators......... worth jack and shit........maybe in 50 years it will have worth......but more then likely...not in your lifetime

No vehicle is a good investment. Doesn't matter what it is. If you invested the money properly your return will be much more than any car.
