Note to all the big dog owners. It is not very good to let your dog(s) jump down from the back seat. Tough on their body and joints when they jump out.
Yup. I’ve got a 10 year old 80lb Greyhound. He already had arthritis (retired racer), but a few months of jumping out of the backseat made it noticeably worse. I finally had to start grabbing him and carrying him down.

My 50lbs mutt jumps in the front then goes through seats to the back. That's even when I have the rear door open. He refuses to jump in the back.

As others have stated, remove the bolt from the door hold-open bracket and push the bracket into the door (see red oval in pic).

I have a 6 month old puppy who is a medium sized breed. I lift her up, only way she can get in...God grief, I don't blame her, it is a big step up, I thank goodness for the hand-grab they put by the driver's door every time I get in too - LOL...She loves taking rides in the Mojave, must be a natural thing for dogs. I tether her/harness to two seat belt sockets in the back seat and lay her on a vinyl doggy cover which covers all the leather over the entire back "bench".

We got a cane corso. Big boy will jump into the bed all day, which is noticeably higher than the back seat. But is 50/50 on jumping in the back seat himself. He's only 90 pounds so far though. He's getting a bit more confident.

Have a 9 year old GSD and a foldable ramp stays in the bed when he’s riding with me.

My 130 lb male GSD used to jump in the back seat with no problem until recently. Now he puts his front paws up and I hoist his butt in the rest of the way. I’m going to look into those steps as they seem like a great option.

My English Coonhound put a dent in my Jeep like the first week I had it jumping in to the backseat. This after paintless dent repair popped most of it out.

Here is my solution. A @RebelOffRoad XPLOR Rack with the Molle Hatch Door, and a four additional crossbars.

Twice my dog missed the opening and went into the side panel. I’m very surprised he hasn’t dented it yet. Maybe he need glasses.

Yeah if your GSD is 7 I’d start helping him/her up or do the steps. Our 8yr old Shepard sits at the door and I hoist her 65# butt up. Now our Mal she will probably double roundhouse in mid air and stop then matrix gravitate into the back seat. She’s freakin psycho.
Belgian? I think they're psycho by birth. Almost 3 year old male here. He needs no step or anything. That back door opens, he literally flies inside

13 year old Coon Hound needs the step, but she gets in. Will NOT let anyone pick her up. She will usually go in the front door and then move to the back.

This Dood just puts his paws up on the door sills then I hoist him up. You could probably unlatch one of the door catches on a side and push it into the door, as that should allow the door to swing open just a tad farther.

Same with my boxer

I was wondering about loading up dogs in the backseat as well. We have a 90lb Lab/Boxer mix and a 140lb Great Dane. The rack in the bed is looking way better.

As of right now we haul them in our 22' Forester. The Dane is so tall I now have the fun of removing his little black hairs out of the headliner.
