So far, that is.
I'm not at all satisfied how that visit went and there was nothing mentioned about my breathing issues with this stuff.
It started last Saturday evening about bedtime - felt "off" and my throat didn't feel normal.
Then by Sunday it was full-fledged something with sore throat. Wednesday was so bad went in to urgent care. Doctor said he'd bet his license it was either covid or influenza. They've been seeing a major uptick on both flu and covid.
He sent samples in but the lab and said I'd get a call the next morning and if covid, meds would be called into the pharmacy - of course the lab was closed on the 4th so the meds he said he could put me on if it was covid - it'll be too late by Friday. But hopefully I'll at least know what it is.
Along comes friday still nothing.
So I called the doctors offices and asked. Was told the lab results were in but a doctor had to verify the results before they could tell me anything.
WTF? What is a doctor going to do that the lab didn't already do with that sample sent to them??

So - missing out on the 4th and other stuff. It's got my lungs all jammed up to the point I couldn't breathe easily, fingers tingled and turned a bit blue by the nails.
Really stinks - lose a good week of life and doing stuff.
I've been coughing so hard, so often, my muscles hurt really bad - a cough is extremely painful now
I think I'm going to go in and annoy them again - maybe I'll get a different doctor?
I at least need something to stop the coughing and let me BREATHE!
I can't even lay down. Each time I try to sleep laying down, my chest fills up and I wheeze and can't exhale properly.

I would go back to the doctor. It’s possible that you have developed pneumonia. I was in the hospital for week, had it in both lungs. Scary stuff, they can see it better with a ct scan than a regular xray. Hope you feel better!

I think that's what I'm going to do.
I have a history of pneumonia anyway, dating back to when I was in my late teens. Was in hospital for a week with that one. The others were treated out of the hospital.
I pretty much can tell what's going on after living in this worn out body all of these years.
Now to get them to believe me.
I've heard or read that pneumonia can develop from covid - maybe from influenza, too?

Bill stop thinking about it and get to an Emergency room, the hospital will have results right away and get you what you need. Really do it Bill.
I might just be an electrician for a very large construction company on East coast , but they recruited me from a very large Trauma center hospital, where I was the head electrician for a couple decades, and have seen what happens when people wait!
Get well Bill…..Jack

Not sure about Covid but the Flu it can, dude I knew almost died from that cocktail. If you’re turning blue and tingly boss bag it and get to a legit hospital. This is beyond the advanced male nurses of the quick care world. Get well!

As everyone said, go to the ER immediately. Request to be seen by an MD or DO before you leave. Even if the initial exam is by a PA or NP, you should be seen by an attending before you are discharged.

Best wishes and hope you get it sorted Bill. I am with the others in that you need urgent or emergency care. Pneumonia is nothing to fuck around with dilly-dallying about if you have it or not and need a proper diagnosis stat. If you are turning blue, your blood O2 levels are shit.

They have Covid tests that show results in a few minutes.
Hope you're getting better. How about an update?

I went back in to urgent care clinic today. I knew there would be a different doctor (they take rotations or turns doing urgent care)
It was a doctor I'd seen there in the past and she had zero hesitations at all prescribing an antibiotic (doxycycline) and "cough meds" with codeine.
She said it wasn't into pneumonia but bronchitis and some sinus infection name. Luckily I was still wheezing when I breathed when I went in this AM early.

I didn't get to sleep until about 1:30 (long story there) and had to wake at 6 to get to the head of the urgent care line - they open at 7am.

Along with this and the troubles breathing I've gotten into a very real sleep anxiety so have to do whatever it takes to wear myself out to the point of exhaustion so that sleep over-takes me before I work myself out of it.
She suggested the cough stuff with codeine might help with that.
Last night I took 10mg of melatonin and that may have helped - that with staying up until about 1:30am

Hot and cold sweats, AC on, fans running, still feel hot and closed in.

Hopefully with some meds - maybe things will normalize!

Very glad you’re making some progress. And glad you’re starting to get some sleep.
