I was in St. Pete, on the water for 19 years until 2019. I feel for everyone on the west coast of FL. it reminds me of Irma, but worse. It’s going to be really bad for someone, who depends on the last few hours. I was sure Irma was taking the house, boat, and condo. Then it went south a bit. Good luck everyone.

We got back on Thursday. We got about 6” in the garage so were much more fortunate than others.

i got the garage pretty much hosed out and then went out later and went flying off the steps. Wet steps and flip flops don’t mix. So I’ve been up since 1:00 iceing down my knee.

The boat and lift could be better, but I’ll get to those later.

Looks like you did OK, that's good.

Here is my buddy's 42' boat in Fort Myers after Ian. At least he knew where it was, unlike his neighbor ...

Im in Yacht Club in Cape Coral and they were saying 8-12 foot storm surge. I parked the Rubi at my bro in laws house in middle cape and got the hell out of town with the wife and dog. Stayed at a Hampton Inn in Miami. 🙁. Seems like every year now we have to worry about a storm. Fortunately we were spared this time and the Jeep survived. Doors and top coming off once hurricane season is over in 2 weeks.

Milton was my 6th hurricane. Living in Spring Hill and we escaped the high winds. Worst hurricane for us was Andrew in Miami. They predicted 16' surge and we lived 1 1/2 mile inland so wrongly though we were safe. Our living room elevation was 12' and the water stain was 4'. Thankfully surges don't stay long but it still made a mess.

That really sucks. Sorry. Hope it wasn’t too bad. I’ve been through I think six as well, starting with Charlie. We were lucky for all of them. Irma really worried us.

Glad to hear that you didn't get too much damage. I have a friend that lives in Englewood on the water and her house is destroyed. Multiple walls caved in and over 6 feet of water in the house. Everything in the house ruined. Only got a few bins of items that could be saved and it was only things in the upper cabinets of the kitchen. They live in Indiana and this is a vacation home. They were in town cleaning up from almost 3 feet of water from Helene and fled to the east coast to ride out Milton. Came back to total destruction. Spoke with her and she was in tears. Feel so sorry for them but at least they are safe.

The sad thing is even with flood insurance it maxes out at $250,000. That doesn’t go very far if your house is totaled. I also have $50,000 for contents. And the deductible I believe is $5,000.

I have much better coverage for wind and fire.

When we were there we had a second flood policy to cover the actual rebuild costs. FEMA’s max would never do it.
