I'm sure those recall numbers are US only, I remember reading all European models are diesel. Hopefully there isn't many differences so global demand for parts will be enough to warrant continued supply.
I can't imagine we will see part issues like some other small run niche vehicles. Thankfully for us the whole front clip is the same as the Wrangler essentially, the engine is identical to the ecodiesel in the Ram and Wrangler, and the rear is mostly a tweaked Ram truck. The only real uniqueness is that they combined it all together from the factory into one unit. I can confidently say there will never be another factory diesel Jeep truck.

Care to elaborate on how? They don't manufacture or have direct control over the fuel pumps. There's a very real shortage of replacement parts available, and not just for Jeep.
I meant they’re happy to leave this issue unresolved as the sales market doesn’t warrant the headache or expense.

To fix this, add a lift pump to insulate the HPFP from fuel irregularities. It won’t solve all the issues but it will help prevent stupid human tricks.

These are my other two less common rides... and a TJ Rubicon but there's pretty much a million of them. There's a ton of Gladiators too... The diesel is a pretty big part of it though. I suppose I'm just reminded of the dads at the cruise ins with their corvettes mine is one of one because it's the only one with the red leather and also heated seats and also has the tape deck painted white and sold in alabama in april of 1998 with a worker discount.

1991 Toyota Celica AllTrac ST185.
I dunno like 5,000,000 Celicas produced.
26,000 ST185 AllTrac/GT-Four produced worldwide.
1,746 exported to US.
591 '91 model year sold in US.
But it's also over 30 years old, it's rare just to have not turned to dust.

I think I've seen you on the road.

They Axed the MT option on the overland and don't offer snazzberry. I'm sure that puts my JT in a small crowd (thought probably only sought after by me).

My 2008 Power Wagon was a 2 door cab with a 8ft bed. The last year for that combo. It was one of 24 made. Also have a 2007 Red, White, and Blue Honda VFR 25th Anniversary Edition. My 2011 Nismo is #307 of about 551 made for that year that we know of.

I had a 2015-2018 Kia K900, of which they produced less than 5.5k in 4 model years in the US. I also had the far more desirable 420hp V8, plus the top of the line VIP Package. If i were to hazard a guess that car was probably one of less than 2.5k in that trim/engine combo (they produced a lot more V8s than V6s, but the VIP package was more rare).

Things only become collectible if they are desired to begin with.

Frankly i think Jeep just did a terrible job making it known a diesel was even available on the JL and JT. It's very surprising that the manuals outsold the diesels 2:1
I dont think those sales numbers are surprising when you consider the price difference between the manual gas and a auto diesel. Wasnt it upwards of $6k more?

Funny. My next restoration project is my original 1983 VFR750 Interceptor. Here it is in better days (and me too, but no hope for restoration there?)

Didn't click the link but is the ecodiesel discontinuation confirmed or just a rumor still?

I raced from the mid 70's to the early 80's. Then did track days from 2003 to 2008 with a RC 51.

Here’s a good write up on HOW the CP4.2 fails and the causes RCD Performance attributes to the failures - CP4.2 failures.

I’d venture a guess that RCD added provisions to the roller assemblies preventing them from rotating in the chambers. This simple fix costs $50 - $100 for parts and labor and would bankrupt Bosch if they had to do it for all the CP4.2’s out there.

Swapping pumps sounds simple enough but you have to time the pump to the cams and injectors which is no backyard job.

I’ve never done a pump on an EcoD but shouldn’t the pump feed the high pressure rail and the injectors be fired electronically?
