Hey all I think ive found a Gladiator im going to pull the trigger on. I wanted some advice and tips from current owners.
I'm looking into a 2021 JTRD with 12k miles. It comes with the stinggray color with matching fenders and hardtop. Leather, heated seats, 8.4" display, premium sound, steel factory bumpers, led lighting.
As far as aftermarket it comes with 5 AEV pintler wheels with 35" Nitto Grapplers , Z automotive tazer, and a RSI smartcap Evo.
My question is if the diesel is a good reliable motor and do you guys think this is a fair deal?
Any tips or feedback would be appreciated thanks!

How much are they asking?

Gladiators are currently 25% off in a lot of places, I'd check for a 2023 or hold over 22...

As for reliability, the high pressure fuel pump has an open unfixed recall since it will eventually and unexpectedly explode apart and do about 12k worth of damage. Seems there are things you can do to mitigate this happening according to the diesel section of the forum.

Many of the dealers near me in SoCal have markups. Was the high pressure fuel pump fixed in 22?

No there is no fix for it, you can run fuel additive to help keep it lubed, add a filter down stream of it to catch it if it does explode, or send your cp4 to get aftermarket re-engineered is the solutions I've seen.

Make the drive to Iowa save thousands

I should do some more research on these pumps. What are they going for out in Iowa ?

Other than the color, that's the same jeep as mine. So far, I have zero complaints. It's really nice to have the power on tap to get up and move. The fuel economy is also nice. I've had mine on a handful of road trips with 37" tires and the lowest mpg I got was 19.5 by the numbers. As @bleda2002 has said, there is a recall on the fuel pump. I have been told by the dealer that the fix should be here in October..... We'll see. To me, 55K seems high but the JTRD is relatively rare and you are in Cal.

The fuel pump recall fate has been bounced around. This month, next month. Who knows. But I'm loving my 22 JTRD. Have 30,000 trouble free miles on it.

Nice , the reason I’m looking into the diesel is for power and more mileage out of a tank. If you don’t mind me asking what did you pay for yours where you’re at ? Ive only found a handful of JTRD jeeps out here, most of them are more expensive stock

Felt like i got a pretty good deal and paid 47k for mine a year and a half ago now in Northern VA, only upgrade on mine was the alpine stereo I believe too.. Doesnt seem like a horrible price for Cali. And those RSI caps arent cheap either. No problems 22k miles, just waiting for the fuel pumps but not sweating it.

You can go to Jeep's website and build one then compare the prices.
I paid around $60K for mine brand new.
Rumor is new part to satisfy recall is coming very soon. But, I have a JL 2020 Rubicon diesel with 67,000 trouble-free miles on it. JT is more of a project and only has 5,300 trouble-free miles.

Nice, these diesels are hard to find used. Brand new dealers around me are in the high 50s not including all of their markups
