Solution: don't resell. And never do a mod. I put so much into my Jeep mods that I can never "get back", but I do them because I enjoy the Jeep more. A Jeep is different than buying an 'A to B' transportation solution. It is an experience. Like deciding to take a trip to Australia or Europe or wherever. You will lose money on the trip. You can't 'trade it in' and get money back on your trip. You go because it adds value to the enjoyment of life.
This made me feel a lot better.

I'm waiting to see one ...465ft lbs of torque and 326hp will be ridiculous.
Guys (or girls), I’m just over two months old in JEEPWORLD. Have had a ā€˜23 Sarge Green Gladiator Sport S since 12-20. Bought it to keep it for life, just like I did my 2012 Prius (between the two I average 40 mpg ?). When climbing into WARTHOG (the USAF A-10 ground attack/support aircraft), I feel a spiritual transformation wash over me as I wiggle into the seat, sitting down at almost a 90-degree angle and looking down at the surroundings, especially out the tiny front windshield that is almost at a 90-degree angle to the hood!

I’m just curious why there are Tacos on here, or Taco wanna-purchasers. They really seem to be totally different creatures although the Taco is arguably more versatile, probably tows more, might have more HP, and is probably faster. But the rest of us have JEEPs, and most have JEEP ā€œtrucksā€, the Gladiator, on this forum. It just seems weird that that discussion goes on in any forum. I don’t go read the Taco forum and rarely read the Wrangler forum because I really just don’t care about those vehicles; not in a negative way. They are both super. But I had been waiting for a loooong time for the JEEP truck to come back and had been pining for one since, getting my dream come true late December ā€˜23.

I had an uncle back in the mid 70’s when I was around 8 years old tell me his Kawasaki motorcycle was faster than my dad’s. I went back to the trailer we lived in and told my dad that ā€œUncle Bugs (my uncle’s name) told me that your motorcycle isn’t as fast as his.ā€ My dad said, ā€œYep.ā€ Twenty second pause. ā€œBut it’s all about class. Mine’s a Harley.ā€

That’s how I feel. Mine’s a JEEP Gladiator.

Last time i checked this was a conversation about price . Comparing vehicles is a normal thing when deciding on a purchase.

But at least compare apples to apples.
If FCA meant to compete with a Toyota, I'd expect a scaled down RAM, not a trucked up Wrangler

It does. The Rubicon was a better fit for me.
FWIW the link you posted as well as many similar lists I've seen in the past few years never include the Mojave but do the Rubicon. Not that I'd take tax advice from a random blog post but it makes me wonder.

Mostly because the dealer stock Mojave’s I found in Denver at the time were outside my budget.
Makes total sense - yeah, that is one of those "fits" or doesn't fit things.

Yes, towing…you spoke of towing in the original thread you replied to me. Correct on gas vs diesel price and I haven’t seen comparisons towing for 4xe vs diesel. If the JLU 4xe weighs more (assuming it’s not mods you put on) the JT 4xe definitely will since it outweighs a JL by ~500lbs. Add in a 4xe setup ads ~800lbs on top of that (Jeep specs, not mine). So the JT 4xe setup will be pushing a heavier vehicle. Can it move the JT? Yes. Will it do it well and tow well? I don’t know. Will the 4xe setup be dependable over 5-10 years? Again, who knows. At the end of the day it takes more energy to move our JTs and even more towing and we are adding weight and complexity. Lastly, what is the battery life span/recharge cycles of the 4xe and its replacement cost…will the above be reduced because of towing and a higher required load on the battery? I have yet to encounter a battery that hasn’t eventually died so all this needs to be taken into account. When we start to realize the actual benefits AND problems of the 4xe only then will we be able to properly evaluate. I get it, you’re all in on this 4xe setup, but it has its limitations. If you only look at HP/TQ when new off the lot and nothing else then it might look good, but what do those HP/TQ and mpg look like 5yrs from now when the battery holds less usable energy? Of course you could probably just lease and trade it in at the end of the lease as a fail safe but then you can’t mod.
It's a hybrid with an 8 year warranty on the battery not a pure ev. Even degraded capacity the battery will still hold more than enough charge to give you the HP and tq numbers until the battery actually fully dies which is more like 12-15 years if we go by current tech life span. The 4xe also weighs about 300 lbs more than the diesel, 100 more HP and 30 more lbft of torque will move the jt just fine.

You beat me to it. No worries on battery life in a hybrid. the worst that happens is you drop back from that 25 miles pure electric after a few years.
The extra HP and torque will more than offset the extra weight.
It's not just a hybrid - it's a PHEV, plug-in hybrid.

My wife finally noticed, or finally asked tonight - "if the engine is running why is this showing I'm still using battery" and that's when I explained it's a hybrid. Sometimes the engine and electric help each other, on lighter loads you'll see the gauge go the other way when the engine is powering it and also sending power back to the battery so it's there for the next up-hill. (it was a hilly road so a good time to explain some of that while she drove and watched)
She's not real technical on that stuff (but sit her at a computer, a modern sewing machine or her quilting machine and it's a different world) so it wasn't a real tech type explanation - just that they help each other out when needed and the battery won't REALLY run out because there's the engine to help recharge it when there's not a lot of power needed to keep moving. Use it going up hill, get some back going down hill.
I think she got it. She sure likes that thing and I love the quiet, smooth power. I tried to pay attention and could not feel the transitions of power between engine and electric, etc. You can't really even fell the transmission shift on this thing.

If you are in the market for a new JT, I would seriously consider that 40K offer for your '20 Overland with 50k miles.
I’m not. I decided to keep it. There were multiple offers. The lowest I got was $39k. Had one for $42k, but they were over allowing to try to get me to buy from them.

My dad passed away last year and I have his 2018 Colorado so I don’t need two trucks and I’d never sell his truck, but I like my Gladiator so decided to keep it.

They have the pentastar + hybrid in the minivan. Still sad they couldn't rotate that 90 degrees and have. Jt hybrid. More that a little worried about an over taxed turbo 4 in the JT. But as is 2024 refresh offers no reasons to trade. I don't car about the big screen so really. If I were a new buyer today I pick up a great deal on a 23 rather than pay the premium for a 24. Add a tq focused engine to make towing easier (not higher load( would be the market win) diesel was a compromise. Had they done a small Cummings it might have done better. V6 hybrid would be a low stress tq monster with likely higher take rates than a future 4pot turbo hybrid.
