Looking for advice and opinions about the Jeep jamboree events.
I’m new to Jeep and purchased my gladiator sportS with tow package in September. Installed a 2” lift and put 35” on it. Other then that, it’s stock and I hope to sign up for one of the Jeep jamboree events.
I have a lot of wheeling experience from my Toyota day’s but nothing more than weekends beating around in a stock truck with 33’s on it. Few questions:
Would any of you recommend trying one of the events?
Is it worth doing in a Jeep with my limited mods?
Any “must have” mods I should install first?
Any advice or suggestions would be appreciated.

I went to the first Jeep Jamboree in Butler, PA, at the fairgrounds. They had a mud pit set up, and invited everyone to try to drive through it. They had a big CAT tractor waiting to pull your vehicle out, when you got stuck. I didn't see anyone make it through, and we didn't try. We were in the wife's Liberty, at the time. My Wrangler was at home. The vendor displays were cool, and, of course, lots of cool Jeeps and Jeep people. Fun day, but haven't been back, despite always having at least one Jeep on the driveway for the past 20+ years.

I'd say it's worth checking out, especially if you're new to the Jeep family, and it's not a major ordeal to get there during these trying times. At the event we attended, there was a flat-fender that someone had pieced together and driven all the way from California. It was clapped-out, but still going! You'll see just about everything "Jeep" at a jamboree, and it's usually family-friendly. Usually!

It's fun, but pricy.

They have usually have options of trails that would be suitable for a bone stock TJ Wrangler up to rock crawling beasts. Because of that - you don't have to be heavily modded.

Based off memory, Recovery points and 4x4 are a must.

Just check the requirements on the web sites. You may need fire extinguisher, some recovery gear(like hooks, shackles, strap...), GMRS 2 way radio, etc...

Full sized spare too. You might want to get a few skid plates for some extra insurance.

It was Jeep Jamboree staff that ran the Jeep Adventure Academy we attended in Hollister Hills back in October. Very well run, with the caveat they had one team get wayyyy to nerdy about "four different lines you can take" and it kind of killed the momentum.

Of the forty or so Jeeps in our cohort, there were maybe a half-dozen with winches (not ours) and NONE of them were on even 35's except our JTR. I was a little surprised by that. My wife mentioned she understood why I immediately put bigger tires on because her initial reaction was 'what's wrong with this brand new Jeep it needs tires already?'.

Point being, even the lone Renegade was able to participate and learn and have fun. The only breakage was on a lifted JT with a swaybar endlink that departed the world. So nothing to beat your Jeep up and just a great opportunity to enjoy. We're looking at going to the Arizona Jamboree, my wife lived in PHX for 29 years so it will be a nice mini-vacation.

The only dings I have so far are on the gas tank skidplate (factory), the rear lower control arm frame skids https://www.rustysoffroad.com/rustys-rear-lower-control-arm-frame-side-skid-plates-jt-gladiator.html and the home-made receiver hitch skidplate. I don't see there being a lot to damage if you've wheeled a minitruck before.

I've not been on one but always wanted to do it. Everyone I've known who has done it said it was great.

Most Jeep Jamboree trails are generally picked with the novice Jeeper with a fairly stock Jeep in mind. As noted by an earlier poster, they can be pricey. I have been to several and found them to be fun, pretty good food, and full of like minded enthusiasts. There are other added benefits like, if your Jeep breaks down on the trail, they won’t leave you stranded and will do everything they can to get you down off the trails. (as a friend of mine with a broken rear axle found out-due to a manufacturing defect, not the severity of the trail). I highly recommend that you check one out.
