My Mojave (manual and quite spartan) showed up from the factory with only 1085# of payload. assuming yours is automatic, that's at least 22# less payload available.

FYI: Mojaves never have maxtow
I got 1084. Can you spot me a pound?

When motortrend reviewed an early mojave they did so without weight distribution hitch or anti sway. It didnt go well ( they were over max load i think) I would recommend a weight distribution hitch if you are in a hurry (over 65 mph) and or doing long runs with the trailer. I haven't trailered with my mojave yet but my sport s really didn't like cross winds above 65 towing about the same weight. Enjoy the new truck.

Thank you, I don’t mind driving 65 and under. I don’t plan on traveling far mostly a few hours. I want to be as safe as possible and make sure I have everything I need the first time. Appreciate all the responses

Check the speed rating on the tire when you get it, and stick to it as best you can.

I see many RV /travel trailer on the side of the road and see it's a tire.
I can't help but wonder was it because of constant exceeding tire speed rating. My Casita has 15" Goodyear, rated for 66mph.

My neighbor has a Casita and he changed his tires from what the factory provided to some BFG KO2s E load range and a different speed rating. Just something to think about.

Your Airstream is pretty expensive, can't imagine it would have budget tires.

Question, I just bought a jeep Gladiator, finally! I also bought a 16 foot Airstream Caravel. I just ordered a break controller for it and now I am wondering if I should get a weight distribution hitch. I don't have any experience driving a trailer and Airstream told me it was a good idea. From all the reviews I have watched it seems like it wouldn't hurt if I did. I am looking at the Weigh Safe. Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
It is a Mojave or Mojave X? the x will have only about 800-900 pounds payload.

YES on the WDH (weight distributing hitch)

Absolutely. They typically aren't rated for speed.

I tend to tow at 65 anyway - much safer with all of that load, especially in case some fool does something stupid in front of me.

I cannot stress enough get the weight distribution this will take car of just about every thing. Then if you feel there is still an issue add air springs
And yes a good break controller

Or a good brake controller. Sorry, I just HAD TO!

A WDH will help take some of the "rocking" out on uneven roads with a single axle trailer (and help with the headlights in the trees bit a little bit)

FWIW, your owner's manual recommends you use a weight distribution hitch when towing anything with a gross weight of 2000lbs or more.

Did you research the weight of the trailer and vehicle tow rating before purchasing?

I’ve got a Airstream Basecamp 20x I pull with my JTRD with and Andersen Weight Distribution Hitch. It’s the best WDH I’ve ever used and the easiest to hitch & go. Takes less than 2 minutes as the weight distribution chains don’t have to be removed.
