LOL - seriously?
So you visit hospitals to see how healthy people are?
Forums are crap for finding reliability. The internet is where people gather to complain, get validation for their complaints and find comfort in "me, too" responses.
They don't break down any more than half the vehicles out there, and less than many.

So, no, they don't.
I've owned Jeeps for years, can't say we've had "break down" problems.
(brake is what stops a car or truck, break is when something is broken or comes apart)
I'm on my second Gladiator - can't say anything has actually "broken" unless it was my doing. Anything that's ever happened to any of our Jeeps was minor and easily taken care of by a dealer.

Over 56k miles on my 2021, and no major issues that weren't caused by the dealer.
And nothing that kept it off the road.

Usually forums and social media are a source of the those who are complaining. Rightfully so, but there are far more people who have not had any issues at all. Take a look at the big 3 YouTubers. Ozark overland adventures, Trail Recon, and Story Till Now. They put a lot of HARD miles on their jeeps with relatively trouble free miles.

My 06 TJ has been the most reliable vehicle I have ever owned - if that means anything.

A data based and an anecdote based answer:

I've had 3 Jeeps as my only vehiclees since 2000. Two TJ's (2000, 2004) and a JT (2022). If you avoid first model years of new models, and stick to less luxurious models, I believe they're great.

The gooder news - this is NOT a Jeep-only issue. Go hit the Ford and GM forums and web sites. It's a U.S. automaker thing.
Possible causes? EPA regs on the chemicals and processes used to treat metals prior to painting, and the wild regs on paint itself. Who knows, it may be something else, but when you see Ford and GM owners up-in-arms and ticked as heck about the paint bubbling and coming off the front edges of hoods and other places - you have to ask "now, why is this happening across multiple companies and multiple makes and models and multiple painting locations?"

If you avoid first model years of new models, and stick to less luxurious models, I believe they're great.
Yeah, and no. The first year bit doesn't really apply to Gladiator because it's not the first year for many parts. The axles, yeah, and certain other parts, but the JT is so much JL and RAM, most of it isn't first year.
OTOH, you could buy a 2022 and run into massive first year issues because they change things in the middle of production runs. Even in the middle of a model year there's no saying you aren't getting "first year" things like PCM, software, differential housings, even engine changes.
So the first year thing sort of went out with the 1990s in many ways. Oh, wait, no, it goes back farther. 197? F250. Go get u-joints or maybe a driveshaft - when was it made? You'd better find out, they used 3 different ones that year.
For decades auto makers have been making big changes mid-model year. A guy with 2021 may have great luck while his neighbor with a 2022 has horrible luck because of a change they made that ended up causing problems.
2020 JT didn't have axle leaks - 2021 did.
2018 Grand Cherokee didn't have misfire issues - 2021, same engine, same platform, did.

We've usually bought the more "luxurious" models due to my wife's handicap and needs.
And we've seen no more issues related to the "luxuries" than anything else.
It's almost always the basics that have issues. The luxuries work while the main basic parts have the issues.

IMO, it's a roll of the dice, but they are weighted in your favor.

Interesting speculation on the EPA. It's something I never thought about, but wouldn't be surprised at all.

I think the reason people generally say this is because less moving parts, less possibility of something breaking, say like heated seats or a parking sensor. This can also impact the 'reliability rating' of vehicles. Honda was a great example in their shitty infotainment screen had a lot of issues, so the ratings went down. But the mechanics of the vehicles were just as reliable as years past, just a lot of complaints on the radio and Apple Carplay 'breaking'.

Jeeps are no more different than any other vehicle on the road. They're all built by non perfect humas which means mistakes can and will be made. Don't want problems, don't drive. I've had about 10 vehicles from 5 different manufacturers. All had some sort of problem. Anything can happen. Just buy it if you want it and drive it.

"DITTO" SHADOW YOU ARE CORRECT ! BTW- customer satisfaction surveys revel that unhappy/dissatisfied tell 11 or more people .. now with social media & internet that number is astronomically higher.

Yes, and even the robots that do the welding and painting are built by imperfect humans, and programmed by imperfect humans.
