Again, the whole interview transcript is here.

Again, not a mention of IFS.

Again, media just making up wtfever they want and people running with it.

Copperhead. Scrambler SRT. Hellcat Truck. The Father of the Hellcats Just Told Us What's Coming
JR, the talk of the greenhouse proportions is strange. The only way to easily change that is to chop the top like the buzzcut from EJS this year.

Could they have already shown us most of the bits without telling us?
Take the roof height from the buzzcut, the front end from the anvil 715 and the proportions of the bugout from last year (which has a lower roofline also)

From alleged eye-witness accounts (this sounds like an episode of CSI), the Car and Driver illustration (below) seems pretty close. I kinda doubt a Buzzcut top; cutting 2 inches from an already cramped ceiling is quite a compromise for needed headroom.

Have to think of it in terms of, how many tools do I have to buy and what's the lead time on them.

Cutting the top shorter, would mean cutting the windshield. Now you need a top, a windshield frame, glass, harnesses.

Same with the YJ or FSJ Gladiator style front clips, Grille, headlights, hood, fenders... Dozens of tools, all six figures, all 14 week leads from kick off.

This is why there are so many sticker packages, and even that's an ordeal, with sequencing, guides for the line, maybe sending to an upfitter...

So, approaching like that, think of, how can I make a unique product, using as much as I can, that's more than stickers, but doesn't run my unit price through the roof. But, also, with a JLU base, many of the tools are amortized now.

I think you will see the same front clip, wheel base of JLU means the 6.4 flies, all the parts and testing are done, I don't see how you do IFS for funsies. Interior can be fun, half cab means one tool for Webasto, bulkhead they'll probably stamp at Toledo, 1 tool.

Seats, a bit of a mess as a new design, probably another dozen tools.

In my opinion,
the competition for a Scrambler
may come in large part from UTVs.

Beds on common UTVs are about 36 inches.
A 36 inch bed and a "club" cab
should fit comfortably
on the JLU 117-inch wheelbase.
This consolidates the need for a trailer,
a UTV and tow vehicle into one daily driver.

Hunters and firearms warm and dry inside,
deer corn, bloody deer or hogs in the bed,
rolls of barbwire and t-posts for ranchers,
or extra fuel cans, recovery tools
and the like in the bed for offroaders.

The adventure begins in your driveway.

@Jrgunn5150 's post above about tooling and line operations is exactly why the Buzzcut, though cool, won't likely happen. The amount of money and time spent just getting the windshield on the JT/JL to fold down alone is massive per interviews with the engineers. Redesigning it for a road-legal low production toy? Bonkers.

This has me thinking- would the Scrambler just have Freedom Panels and maybe a modified Sunrider? Or would it be a fully removable like the OG?

Will it have a usable sliding rear window that can be easily opened to launch empty road soda cans into the bed like God intended?

TBF Scramblers were my first CJ-based obsession. I'd have given my left nut for one as a teen over a CJ5 or CJ7.

Here's a little more understanding of the rear seats and their capability:

Tim Kuniskis said the rear seats are reversible, but what he meant was, "you can then fold that seat backwards flat and it makes a bed floor like a truck”. Then he goes on to say, "But the back—I’ll call it the back cap, if you will—if you were thinking about a pickup truck, you know, the camper cap—the cap can then come off like an old K5 Blazer. That can come off and you have the seats in the back that sit at the normal position of the front seats. So while you’re in the thing—while you’re in the vehicle—it almost seems like you’re in a four-door Wrangler."

"But since the top comes off, we’ve enabled the rear seats to be removable and flippable so that you can make them facing backwards. That’s why we put the step on the side, so you can literally walk up to the side of this thing, don’t open the door, step on the step, jump in the back, and sit in the seat. That’s cool, but that’s not really what the total purpose was. What the total purpose was is when you take the top off and you have that seat back there, you can then fold that seat backwards flat and it makes a bed floor like a truck. When you do that and the top’s off, you actually have a bigger bed back there than a Gladiator"

Someone posted this on the JL Forum, and it’s a great catch. Jeep would totally do something like this to test a future production suspension in plain sight.

Casey Curries race truck, Striker, was shown at EJS 2026 recently as a concept. In a YouTube video he thanked the engineers at Jeep for having the opportunity to develop the suspension with them. Similar to the green Scrambler concept except ment for speed.
Jeep tested out IFS on the JK and JL platforms. That doesn’t mean a lot IMO.
