it happens I would think lifted jeeps would make this easier. but are jeeps being targeted more I doubt it

I agree with above, Jeeps and four wheel drive vehicles are easier and faster to get under and remove, probably not a Jeep thing.....Jack

It is a HUGE thing right now in Ohio. With battery powered Sawzalls they can do it so quick before anyone notices.

Yes, they are more difficult to get to than a typical SUV exhaust CAT. The

Catalytic converter theft is starting to be a problem here in Iowa. Videos show the thieves using portable jacks and cordless tools on normal cars, then running.

The replacement cost listed for the JT seems to indicate that the metals in the JT might not be worth as much. Apparently it is a huge deal right now with the Prius because of the Rhodium in there, they cost a ton to replace, in older models it worth more than the car. Crawling under a jeep would be so easy yet I don't hear as much about it.

I've caught them on video at our main office TWICE - one was a 1st gen Tundra in the main parking lot in broad daylight. 2nd was a smaller parking lot and an Excursion. Fearless and in California, they won't be given anything more than a ticket.

I crawled under the JTR, it would be a hard job to get to the top of the cats.

I'm a police dispatcher and we get calls everyday for this. They like to hit up car lots too

There are kits online to wrap the cat in steel cables or install the equivalent of a skid plate and most are expensive. Just last week I took the wifees Camry to the local muffler shop and he welded several chunks of 3/8" steel cable to the cat and to the frame. That cost me $60 and about 1/4 of what some of the do it yourself kits cost.

Been happening here for over 10 years. Non citizens from Mexico scavenge everything. Leave a broken appliance on the street for pick up and overnight, it is stripped of any thing copper. Cats are rich in platinum. And it will get worse thanks to...
