Bonus points if you can find some way to make it weathertight and keep the price where the average American could buy one without a second mortgage.
Now THAT's probably not in the works . . . jus took at all the darn holes in it . . . ? This things "fugly-lookin" imo of course . Sorry ACE, gotta call's as I see's-em !

Personally, I think the holes are good for mount points without having to drill. Reduces weight a smidge, acts as a drain (albeit into the bed).

Will you be able to put various rails and such on there for bikes and tents, etc.?
We'll be working on items like that as well. Just probably not available at launch.

Thank you,

This is the first thing I thought of when I saw this. Great idea... but... what about handling water... it's pouring and you want what's in the bed to stay dry. yes, no?
This will not intended to be a waterproof solution.

oh and add this to my question - how much does it weigh?
It will probably end up in the 110 - 130 lb range. We're still determining ideal material thickness.

Will the rack be made where it can be slid in and out like on a rail system to have access to the stuff in the bed

It's going to be hinged at the front of the bed and have shocks to allow you to lift the rear of the basket to access your bed.

Thank you,

For the record - that is pretty cool. Not for me given the other parameters, but I can definitely see it being useful for some. :like:

Any thought to producing out of aluminum plate (please not diamond plate) and bracing with a few aluminum tubes to hold an equivalent amount of weight?

Well, the Weimaraner makes you guys just that much cooler. That said, my Weim will be riding in the back, so I’m going to need something taller than this. I’ll keep you in mind for a bumper, however. Skid plates? Flares? Would love to see lots of low-weight options.

Sorry, but I don't get it? Why put a baby bed, full of holes, over the existing bed, just seems useless to me. I could be wrong, it would NOT be the first time!

Forgot to ask, will this be lockable? Really liking the look and utility
The part itself won't have a lock, but it will have latches that lock it in place and will only be accessible from inside the bed. The rack will cover the bed entirely - so you can lock your tailgate and the contents underneath will be secure.

Thank you,

It's possible, but will likely only be available in steel - at least to start.

Thank you,
