Nice! I see you're in NOVA. Originally from Southwest VA myself. Thats going to be a hell of a road trip.
Hit Holy Cross last year, so somewhat familiar with the drive. But looking forward to it.
Are there any folks planning not to camp? Have a buddy who wants to come with but will need to stay near by.

I've only done it once moving out here. St Louis to Denver was the most boring part. Kansas in particular.

I know there was some early talk about people getting an airbnb possibly.

it sure is! When I moved from Denver to Northern VA, I made the trip three times. Once for my car, once for my daughter’s, and then all together with the family. TBH, it was better driving by myself because there was no whining. ?

Booked an AirBnB for the week, lots of options for your buddy between Ridgeway, Ouray and Telluride

Darn. I will be out there for three days week of July 12 then heading over to Moab. Gas prices might change that though lol. Six dollar gas may make me cancel my plans.

I’m still in. Got the time off and the Jeep is more or less ready and the girlfriend is getting more excited about it. The shakedown run I did worked out pretty well too. It’s still a ways out but when did we want to start planning out where to meet? Is anyone planning to convoy out?

Tent on. Trial to Grand Canyon this weekend. Going to sight see and try to hit a few BOH trails.

I am almost dead level now. Frame is 1/2 inch higher in rear. My driveway slopes down pretty good.
Drove to Denver with it on today. I do not understand how people keep these things on all the time.
Like a sail in the wind.

First impressions. It's roomy. I have the vestibule as well. Can put cots down there. Set up and tear down are a breeze. Zipper on the cab side is a bit tight to get in there and pull.

Installing the tracks is a bit tricky. I'm shocked at how small the bolts are.
But me and my older two were able to lift it and drop it on the truck.

If I can get a few days off that week I might come up there. Who knows if I will have my Gladiator but the XJ has been up there probably 30 times!
For those that have questions about black Bear, it isn't really "hard", you just have to have good brakes and confidence that you know where your vehicle is in space. If you can't park squarely in a parking space, don't run it, if you can, you will be fine.
Also, if you are afraid of heights you might want to sit it out as well.
