$5,500 for that???? Please tell me you are not paying that.... This is 'warranty' correct?

Unfortunately, ever since the 2010'ish era - they have all become throwaway cars. It's sad. So much emphasis is put into design/engineering and very little if any support given to dealerships to properly train technicians. Then terrible economics on top of that. It's really no surprise. And part of the reason I picked up an old LJ. Push comes to shove, I will let the gladiator go way before the TJ or LJ just because of the simplicity and reliability factor. That and, nobody seems to be able to work on vehicles anymore. They are just too complicated, and too crammed. I guess a person has to make a decision early on before spending any aftermarket monies on something - either plan to keep it for a long time knowing things are going to go bad at your expense, or do nothing more than stock, and either tow a trailer or tent it like the 80's. The sad thing is so many dealers, and Jeep, are finding ways to deny warranties that should be valid, and much of that happens after a person dumps so much money into their vehicle to suit their wants/needs, the a person is basically stuck. Either let it go and loose that tens of thousands of bucks, or be lame and have nothing more than a stock truck which kinda defeats the purpose of the whole thing in the first place. What a shame cause there are still some fantastic dealers and shops out there. The bad ones make them all look bad though.

I feel like these days, and in the coming years, it will be more and more often that businesses prove themselves to be unreliable and more and more often that people will have to do things themselves to do it right. Sadly.

That's true in virtually every industry, whether it be plumbing, or electrical, they are almost all doing sub par work.

I have become a fairly competent plumber and home electrician simply because there was no other option.

That goes for the medical field as well. I had 3 different well known contractors take advantage of me big time on some house repair work so I have vowed to never hire a contractor again and learn how to do it myself for everything, unless big equipment is necessary. It's a shame to have to feel that way, like hardly anybody is trustworthy anymore. I was just talking with my dad the other day and he has the same issue 2 states away, and he lives in a retirement community with a bunch of elderly who can't do squat - they are taken advantage of AAALLLLLLLL the time, its absolutely terrible. There are definitely still good people that do excellent work, but it seems less and less common these days.

Remember you only get a one time event on warranty paint claims from theses people, what a load of crap, because the OEM won’t address their lack ability to paint these things since 1941.
That wasn’t brought up but thanks for the tip.

The corroding on my hinges is starting, and I was going to trade it off because I don't feel like dealing with it forever, but my trade-in has tanked so bad looks like I am stuck with it.

Let's face it. Anything that is done through a dealership is an absolute disaster. I'm convinced @JeepCares and Jeep in general just does not care. The factory warranty extension is garbage. They fight you on everything. They lie. They have service advisors that treat you like their worst enemy. You take it in to get something warrantied and it sits there for a week before it even gets look at. I bought the extended warranty but it is worth it to me to go outside the system and just pay for something out of pocket. And the worst thing is that corporate backs the dealerships. As a buyer/owner we have NO representation whatsoever when there is a dispute with a warranty issue because every single time you try to get something warrantied they point out some unrelated mod you did and try to tell you they won't warranty it because of that mod. I love my JT and it is a great vehicle but I gotta say if it ever gets to the point where I need a new truck I WILL NEVER BUY brand new from Jeep ever again. The customer service at any level is that horrible.
Took the words out of my mouth.
