Went hiking today at Germantown MetroPark and made a loop. My keys were in my back pack. When I got back to my truck, I was able to unlock the Jeep and opened he tail gate to have lunch. I got ready to go, closed my he tail gate and the truck locked. I have a solid cover and don’t want to destroy it. Luckily I have my phone and was able to call AAA.

If your keys were in the bed, you should be able to utilize their proximity to the vehicle to just open the door handles, and then hit unlock to pop the bed. Unless you have that feature disabled?

If the keys are close to the tailgate, probably too far away from the sensor.

At least on my truck it wouldn't work. If me and my fiance are both standing beside the cab the door will unlock for her with the keys in my pocket, but if I'm still alongside the bed it won't.

Thats... odd. The transceiver for the keyfob is behind the backseat, so I am made to believe. It should pick them up quite a distance away.

Yea… if you unlock the truck and don’t open the ‘doors’ …it’ll lock itself in a matter of time (I don’t know the exact time).

Proximity sensors will only work if you’re right next to the door (or almost). So, I can understand why it won’t work with the keys in the bed.

And, I’m pretty sure…. If your keys were anywhere close enough for the proximity sensors - the truck doesn’t lock. I’ve left my keys in the drink trays and tried to lock it using the button on the door, and it won’t lock. Which…makes sense!!

I’m curious, now I gotta go out and try with the key in the bed.

Well, crap. I'm out of ideas. Does your tonneau cover latch release with a pull cable or something else?

Ok…so… a quick test on mine…..
The key had to be beyond the back edge of the wheel well in order to work.
First picture Proximity worked. Second picture…No Go.

I was finally able enough o get Jeep to reset my pin on the app and it’s unlocked. Lessons learned, keep the keys in your pocket

Shit happens….. Hopefully, now that you got the app working, you can use that.

I have a 2024 and the Jeep app still works (lock, unlock, and information). Obviously…the remote start doesn’t work via the app anymore (I ain’t paying extra for that). My 3/36 warranty is good for another year yet.

Does the App - lock/unlock - stop working when your warranty expires? Or does it work the entire time that you own the vehicle?
