I know the 8.4 Alpine system has a built in crossover for the speakers. Are the included crossovers for Kicker KSC350 3.5” dash speakers required?

Yes…. Because you are crossing over the 2 drivers in your speaker, has nothing to do with the signal coming into it.

Thank you. I installed them with the included crossovers. The Kickers are huge improvement over the OEM Alpine 3.5” dash speakers.

Im thinking of going active on the front stage. my crossovers are picking up signal noise a bit… I guess I could just move the crossovers to the amp rack under the seat too. We’ll see. Thanks though.

Per Crutchfield, those Kicker coaxial speakers have a freq range of 80hz to 20khz. You can probably get away without using the included crossovers. If those crossovers high pass freq at a higher wavelength than what the OEM 8.4 HU sends...it might leave gap between those and what's band or low passed below that. I don't think the OEM HU sends full range to the dash.

I actually tried with and without the included crossovers. They do seem to sound better with the crossovers installed.

Next step is Kicker 6.5” / 1” components in the sound bar. Additional sub under the rear seat. Separate amp will power the dash, soundbar and new sub.

I did something similar with the AudioControl LC 6.1200 running a separate channel to each of the L/R dash/kick/soundbar speakers. Though...I did end up using coaxials for both the dash and the soundbar, so I wouldn't need additional passive crossovers. Hiding a Kicker 46HS10 behind the back panel provides enough bass for me, but I know there are definitely more powerful sub setups than mine. Thankfully, it all ended up nice enough to me that I didn't need to fine tune things with a DSP.

Mine will be very similar setup using an LC-5.1300 for dash, soundbar and single Kicker 10” L7 sub. I have the 8.4 Alpine system and will keep the OEM amp powering the factory sub and lower kick panel mids.
