Looks like I just joined this club today. :crying: Was rotating the tires and noticed fluid on the right rear.
Contacted dealership to schedule diagnosis.

Update: so after some time waiting for parts, the dealership has received and is tasked by Mopar (or whoever) to replace the following:
  • 68474093AA
  • 68401295AA
  • 68538462AA
  • 68474094AA
  • 68378949AA
To be honest I'm a very skeptical to have the dealer replace more than air in a tire, so I'll report back here to see if this repair/rebuild makes things worse or corrects the defect causing the leak.
Dealership just admitted this this is a recall on certain gladiators with certain vin numbers. Jeep already knows amd is just keeping this quiet. Call and find out if you gladiator vin is part of this defective recall that that aren't letting people know about but instead the dealership just keeps your jeep for a month and says we are keeping it because of axle failure. All lies

Who would we call about that?
Mine definitely was leaking yet the app states no recalls.

Just called the dealership and the sales manager let it slip. I was like what the hell do u mean recall and then he was like well its only for a certain vin numbers. He wouldn't tell me but it looks like all of 2021 and some early 2022. And to top it all off I said if you knew this was happening why dont you preorder all the parts and he was like well you know there is a parts shortage. Lol fking moron

It will be like they did with the PCM programming - certain VINs only, and although called a recall, it's an RRT most likely. Yeah, they use the word recall.
If it's like the PCM - owners will get cards, or it's possible even CARFAX will notify people.

They ask "do you want us to do it while it's here?"
I said yes...........

I thought they were legally required to disclose recalls publicly, and handle with the NHTSA? They probably aren't allowed to pre-order all the parts, as that makes the parts shortage worse.

It's not a true recall. This will be an RRT - just like that PCM thing was called a recall, it wasn't. It was a RRT. It will get put on the invoice as a recall.
There are no recalls as of this time, and no TSBs on the axle as of this time. (at least nothing the feds have). There may be RRTs out on it and those hit dealers before almost anything else.

I'd bet the owners will get a card either from FCA or CARFAX.
But it's not a recall in the recall sense.

Can I ask if my vin number is on the RRT list for this axle leak issue and they will look that up and let me know?

I had the PCM thing from your photo performed on mine the first time I dropped it off- I didn't even know about it until I picked it up.

Does anything about an RRT prevent bad dealerships from lying about eligibility?

You should be able to contact your dealership shop and get that info.
It's possible this is just rolling out and people there may not be fully aware.
My 2020 won't be impacted.

Well add me to the club. 2021 Sport S 3.6L max tow. Had my tires rotated today and noticed it. Made appointment with dealer for Monday. Checked diff and it is clearly low on gear oil. Topped it off. Pictures are below. The tire is after being rotated to a different spot.

What I am wondering is how bad is it to drive? I have a 2200 mile round trip road trip planned in a week. Worried it isn’t safe to drive that far. Dealership couldn’t really tell me over phone.

If you pull the fill plug, and stick your little finger into the hole and can reach lube by just reaching down from the first joint on your finger, it's basically full. So if you can reach it just by the first section of your finger bending down to the fluid - it's not too low.
Full is up to the bottom of the fill hole, if you can reach it, it's not "too low".
If you can't reach it with the first joint of your little finger, it's low.

They can't tell you anything over the phone, and to do so without seeing how bad or not bad the leak is or what the level is would be irresponsible.
Depending on how low it is now, you may be fine............ but I'd check it half-way out to see how much has REALLY leaked out. A little oil or lube looks like a heck of a lot when it gets flung around so it's really hard to tell from the pictures. What's on the wheel and tire isn't enough to drop it even 1/4" - but how much is on the road? Dunno.

If you need to make the trip, take some tools along with some fluid.

If you top off the axle prior to making the trip and clean the oil from the wheel and axle, you can inspect the wheel/ axle every time you fuel up. If you suspect you need to add oil, you have the tools and oil to do so.

Thanks for tips. To reach the fluid I had to stick my finger in and bend it at the first joint in the fill hole. I am not sure how long it has been leaking though. Less than 5k mikes I think.
