I think I saw in this thread, but want to clarify - the person who is/was tracking - this is a 2021 model year only, correct? And wasn't it determined to be only the max tow and Rubicon axles? Or did I see that wrong?
Mine is a 21 willys edition not max tow.
also, jeep is wanting mine back for a close up look. Anyone else have the dealership send back like this?

Yup - lube on brakes = not good, brakes won't grab. A "little" lube is bad as well because that is sticky and can cause brakes to lock - wonder what that would make the ABS think.......
Looking back at more posts. Realizing I’m going to have ask them to replace those pads too. I know it’s not been much of leak so far but I’m not taking a chance.

I'd have to read quite a few other posts but if memory serves, someone else said the axle had to be sent back. The document I saw said they are looking into commonalities - so they'd want details of the build and to look for things about the axle itself that are the same in each case.
Forensics, if you will. Root cause analysis.

Yours is the earliest build(of a 2021) so far with a leak.
Thank you for tracking that. It may seem trivial to some, but tracking build dates to the day, trim level, LSD or other features can really nail this sort of thing down.
If a pattern is found, then you ask - what changed? or - what's different? or "what do the leakers have in common?"

I hope you went back to the dealer before coming here - letting them know right away, wasting no time in pointing out the issue.

They need to not simply replace parts -they need to troubleshoot and find the cause of the leak. Blindly replacing stuff is not troubleshooting.

Just noticed the leak this morning after a short road trip. Dealer has me booked for an appointment Tuesday morning.

If the dealer orders another axle assembly Tuesday I’m going to take my JT to my local transmission shop that installed upgraded axles on my 77 Trans Am LS swap and have them diagnose the leak.

That's a good idea. I swear, if any of these were close to me, I'd look at them myself. I'd love to run some tests and take a close look at things.

I would like to pull both axle shafts and measure the diameter and depth of the outer tube flanges and bearing retainer. I’m guessing something is machined incorrectly on the right side.

That's my take. I'd love to measure the seal surface of the axle - micrometer, and the inside of the axle tube seal area and a couple of other areas.
I'd like to measure the axle runout as well in that area.

Mine is on the shop hopefully done tomorrow told them to check the brake pads for contamination and there are some complaints for this on NTHSA. All should file there to get Jeep looking at this and making the correct repair. How many here had repair and have repeat leak? On the Facebook page gladiator problems, there are a few, as well. I hope this isn't going to be recurrent. smh

I see a wet spot on the rear drivers side close to the axle area on the pavement when parked, I always thought it was water drippings from the bed. I need to take a closer look.

4,000 miles now, towing and in the heat of summer. Not a drop on mine. Yet. But I did modify my breather tube cap on day 1 after delivery of the truck.

I went back through the first 4 pages of this thread and it seems that everybody with this leak has the wide track axle. I wonder what are the odds that the assembly line mistakenly installed the standard width axle shafts into the wide track axle tubes? Perhaps there's just enough spline to catch the side gears in the differential so that the truck is driveable, but the standard axle just doesn't fit perfectly and allows a leak?

Just a thought.. it's unlikely but...
