Trend seems to indicate a fairly early (manufacturing issue ?) leaking rear axle seal issue, often RR; I have my 2021 Jeep Gladiator on factory order - I am starting to be concerned about this issue. For what it is worth, my 2015 Nissan Frontier Pro4X had a leaking seal on the RR (@120,000 miles -Dana 44 rear axle); dealer blamed a clogged/stuck rear axle breather (on the top of the RR side of the axle) ... claimed that the stuck/clogged breather caused pressure to build up, blowing out the seal. Had to replace the complete axle assembly, out of warranty of course. Could there be a faulty breather issue causing these Jeep Gladiator leaking RR axles ?
When I had my Xterra (same platform) I made sure to do the 'breather' mod to my rear dif for this same reason, well that and the fear of sucking in water.

I'm not sure where the D44 has its breather, but it may be worth looking into I suppose.

I joined the club this week...
I called the dealer, but here in Europe 'there are no know leak issues'... My car will be the first they know off. I'm sure there are a lot others, but I read this board and check my car on failures when I read about it.
Now my dealer has to check which parts he need to fix it. Does some ome know what's needed?

Dealers seem to be replacing the entire axle shaft assembly (versus just a seal/gasket). The part number should be 68474094AA .......but your dealer would need to 100% confirm. I know thta was the part for my 2021 Sport S with Max tow option.

Keep a CLOSE eye on it - one or two others have said only the seal was replaced - only to see leaks later.......
On the other hand, there will be people banging their head on the wall if replacing only the seal resolves it!
Is there a problem with just replacing the seal? Like the surface finish on the axle is a problem that ruins the new seal also?

In all fairness to Jeep, if there wasn’t social media they wouldn't be getting 10 new axle orders a day LoL

Unfortunately, there is and we are all in the same boat. Mine was fixed on Wednesday and haven’t driven it much yet to see if the leak comes back.

2021- The year of COVID vehicles industry wide.
If it wasn't for social media, these problems would go unnoticed until the vehicle was out of warranty. So its still a good thing.

Left the G at the dealership after a month long wait for an appt. I was told maybe a few day days just to look at it. I have to sign a possible $150 diagnose fee in case it's not covered under the new car warranty. WHAT? I had to take a deep breath and signed it.
I was told by the service advisor that they haven't heard this issue. I was the first. Wow... I am just hoping I get a call that it is driveable and that I could pick up soon. I have an upcoming trip and I need this tow vehicle. I dont think my Subaru can tow my rolling condo. Lol. It sucks, but hey I hope JEEP will take care of US.

Uggh I hate dealerships like that. Oil leaking out of a vehicle under warranty and they start off by making you sign some bs like that.

VW dealer by me is like that. Took it in for two rusty holes (total rust through) in the fenders....it was about 8 years old and had a 10 or 12 year rust warranty.....as i stood there in the service bay checking it in they pulled the same BS and wanted me to sign that the "diagnosis" may not be covered....as I kept pointing to it four feet away saying "it's got a rust hole the size of a quarter in it right there and another one right there".....needless to say I made quite a scene with about four other customers behind me also nodding in agreement. And they wonder why people hate dealerships so much.

I'd ask for a loaner truck as you need to tow.

Definitely. I won't mind getting one or even a V8 Durango will do. I saw one this morning with a $49k sticker. Might be time to let go of the Outback wagon and get a new Jeep SUV. Wife wants to get another 7-8 seater vehicle. I wanted an awd van, she wants an SUV. Guess she wins.

I had a similar experience. Waited over a month for my appointment day and when I showed up they said "we will get back with you in 48-72 hours". I was super confused what was the point of an appointment then. I didn't have to sign any waiver though. They of course called me back exactly 3 days after I dropped it off and confirmed what I knew when I dropped it off. The right rear seal was leaking and they would have to order the part and they expected it would be about a month. They were super cool about everything and so far no issues with my dealer, but I still don't get why have appointments if you're going to have folks drop off their vehicle for 3 days to diagnose. Luckily we have 3 cars so I didn't need a loaner.

So they treat you like 5hit and you reward them by considering buying another vehicle from them??!!???

And people wonder why dealers keep up this behavior. Its because people let them get away with it!!

Not exactly. Leased a new 2014 Ram, had some (3 minor) issues all fixed under warranty. About 3 years after the lease, got this other Jeep- the G. Well, I figured MAYBE we could be a 3-peat customer depending on the outcome of the repair and incentives on a new vehicle. Although I am still convincing the wife about getting a van, ulk.

I guess that is the standard status updates? They always say 2-3 days in case (Covid-19) a tech gets sick and no one else is available to diagnose the cars.

Bad news- ain't gonna get a loaner. Good news- got a call to pick up the G and that a new axle has been ordered under warranty. ETA is 5-7 days. I'm crossing my fingers and toes! I will be satisfied even if the wait is longer as long as it gets fixed. We go camping almost every month and I NEED this tow vehicle.

Well, I was contacted by the Jeep attorney today... Now that their attorney is involved, I'm thinking about handing the dispute over to my attorney again. Ugh!

Jeep should really try and actively work these things out before handing it over to the attorney, I did.

Joining the club. 2021 Willys, 8k miles. Not sure how long this has been going on, just noticed yesterday while installing a hitch receiver. 2 joints deep inside the diff to get to fluid.
Appointment at the dealership tomorrow morning.
Please keep us updated on your appointment and if you need assistance, we are in private message.
