That actually looks better
Thanks. I had to snip the ends of the tubing at a 45 degree angle to make it fit into the groove. We’ll see if it stays there. It should. You could easily do yours if you decide to.

I just got back yesterday, Jeep dealer had our Gladiator for almost a month as was outta state for family emergencey. Took video to them showing 2 inches of water in driver's floor board and 1/2 inch in dirver's rear. They said they had never seen so much water in one of these. My Son & I had done the rear window fix as seen NUMEROUS times on here. They texted me the day after and told me that the rear window was leaking and the replacement was 45 days out. I asked if they had removed our repair for their test. They said YES, I asked Why would you do that? They had no loaners so sent me to Enterprise. I left outta state next day with my Son, left their vehicle in drive. That was Thursday, they called me on Monday and said they had to have the Enterprise vehicle back Monday or I would be charged after that. Vehicle is locked with personal stuff inside and key in house, I'm in PA. They sent a tow truck to pick it up with skates. They put NEW rear glass in, siad they couldn't find any other leaks. Told me not to park it nose down. I told Service Girl that since I showed them video and they removed my fix that the next time it has water in front floor board I'd be calling them to come pick it up.
Talk bout FRUSTRAITED!

Neatsfoot oil was what I had for my boots, so I used it. It worked fine as a lube, but I hadn't washed off the residue in the picture. The hitch pin was perfect for pressing the tubing in a pretty consistent depth.

Thanks again for the idea and input.

I’m going to do this instead of heading to the dealer. Does anyone thing having a cap and rooftop tent hanging over that gap would also be protective?
