I haven’t really looked at the newer 2.7 much. Is that engine oriented normally or is it backwards like the Chevy LZO diesels? We just joined the Toyota brand recently with my wife’s 4 runner. I was concerned the 2.7 wouldn’t have adequate power for trails and daily driving that fits her lead foot. Since it’s new I steered her away from it until it has a longer track record. Went with a 23’ Gen5 with the 4.0 instead. It’s a super comfortable truck. Throw some solid axles on there and she’ll have a nicer ride on the trails than I have in the Gladiator. :CWL:

People Work?
People complain about the homelink icon on the infotainment screen. I have not had an issue. When I get close to home the icon appears. The garage door will auto close when I pull away.
That's a nice feature. The 24 Denali came with zero Homelink functionality. Not even available as an option.
I did the Bob's mirror thing and it's fine.
I also installed a wifi relay that pairs with Google Home and Alexa.
Sometimes I get a few miles up the road and wonder if I closed the door.
With my cameras and this cheap relay, it's easy enough to check and fix from anywhere with Internet.

So far the engine has been flawless, but I just did my 15,000 mile oil change. So it's not a lot of miles yet.
Overall the truck has been good.
It handles great, has plenty of power, rides and drives great.

Here's some info I posted as a comment on TFL's video about the truck. Mostly because they didn't cover a lot of it.

I have the 24 Denali. Overall I have been satisfied with it.

There were some initial issues.

* It had the headlight flicker, which was finally elevated to a recall and addressed. You won't see that after mid 24, and any used trucks should have already been fixed.

* The blend door motor was extremely noisy, but the dealer replaced it under warranty. That's a full dash tear out, and they did scuff my speaker grille and a place or two on the dash. Those were also repaired.

* The paint on these trucks is notorious for having flaws and trash in them. If you're buying one, go over it very carefully in good lighting before leaving the lot.

* My truck was delivered with the driver's side rear marker light not connected. I discovered that a few days after delivery. Since the dealer was 1.5 hours away, I chose to fix it myself. The wire was left pinched behind the fender liner and it could not reach the connector. A blatant "Not my job" fault that got moved on down the line with no stoppage.

* The infotainment systems have been notoriously glitchy, but they are getting better through OTA updates. Better stability and fewer blank screens now.

* There have been fairly widespread issues reported with coolant leaks, either from the top radiator hose or the heater hoses. They employ a locking O ring mechanism, rather than traditional clamps. You can buy o rings on Amazon, etc. and DIY the fix, or let the dealer do it and take several days. Some have even cut the mechanical connectors off and put hose clamps on them.

* Some early models without sunroof had oil canning problems under the blowers in car washes. There was a TSB on that and dealers installed reinforcements in the roofs.

* There's no power sliding rear window option.

* Mine didn't come with Homelink. Not sure about the current models. I installed a mirror with Homelink from Bob's Mirrors. They really should come with them for the sticker price.

* There's no behind the rear seat storage and they do not fold down. There is some under seat storage in the rear.

* The tailgate storage is not waterproof or dust proof. That doesn't matter to me, but it bothers some people.

My 15,000 mile average is 21.4 MPG I installed the BAK X4S Tonneau, Go Rhino Mud guards, and Go Rhino E1 Power Steps from RealTruck.
All were reasonably easy to install at home in the garage. I also installed hood struts from Redline.

I like the interior, ride comfort, cooled and heated seats, and the overall feel. I'd like it to actually be quieter on the exhaust, because it sounds "pooty" to me.
They are big cylinders, but it's still just four of them.

The power is more than enough. It's governed to 98 MPH max, and it gets there from 55 in a hurry.

I drove the Tacoma TRD Pro and the Ranger Raptor when I was shopping, and I found the Canyon to be best overall on power, comfort, finish, and feel.

The truck is reasonably easy to service. I do my own oil changes and rotations and it's simple and straightforward.

I had a 17 Canyon and I inherited my father’s 18 Canyon. Great trucks. I’m glad I’ve never bought an early one of the new model. Took them a while to sort out the issues. I do love them, but I’d have trouble selling my dad’s 2018. The back seat not folding is odd to me. I swear mine does but now I need to go check. The 98 governor makes me laugh because mine was the same way and it pulled hard to 98. I put a tuner on it and it took it off a lot of the torque mgmt and other nanny’s like it killing. Any good burn outs. After that it would lay excellent 11s and go to effortlessly well into triple digits. You have an extra 100 lb ft. The LGZ 3.6l is a great engine, but it’s odd in a truck. It drives a lot like my Jeep’s 3.6l, but at 4k rpm+ it’s a different engine and pulls hard to 7200 rpm.

That 4.0l V6is a great engine. Vastly superior to the 3.5l in the last gen Tacomas.

Supposedly this product helps the injection pumps live (added lubrication) though I imagine most of the claims are anecdotal. Have not researched it much.

I get the itch to offload a couple things and get a 3/4 ton Duramax on occasion. I could use that just as much as anything else I've owned.

Waiting to move and let life settle back in and see what my wants / needs are then.
I use diesel clean about 3 or 4 times a year. Mostly in the winter months or when the truck will sit for a few weeks. I should add it more often.

I switched from using HotShots EDT to Diesel Kleen.
Diesel Kleen is supposed to work better with DPF than HotShots. Both are a good product for lubrication.

Hey @ChrisNLA just step up to a 1 ton. We had a 2015 Ram 2500 Cummins, only had 2 regrets with it. First was it was a 3/4ton, which fit our needs/wants at the time. Then the with wife wanted a new toy hauler, a big one. Read that as f'in huge, the 3/4 wasn't rated for the pin weight. Which lead to my 2nd regret, we got rid of it. Traded it for a 2020 1 ton Duramax, don't regret the truck, just liked the Ram/Cummins combo better for towing. The Cummins got slightly better mpg, towing or empty and I preferred the Cummins exhaust brake system over the Duramax. Traded to Duramax for a JLURD, we've decided we want a motorhome in the future.
Both were great trucks and I'd take either one back if offered. Ram had better seats for me, but that Duramax is a hoot. Reminds me of the big gas motors in commercial vehicles from back in the day. Kinda like a slightly detuned big block feel, was fun to lay smoke black marks with.

@Lunentucker those Colorado/Canyons are nice pickups, they'd be on my short list if I was shopping again.
I might of missed it, but why did you get rid of the Gladiator?

Several reasons.
Better ride comfort and drivability.
Concerns over the 3.6 cam roller issues.
More power and responsiveness.
"Been there and done that" sense of experiences with the Gladiator and purposeful off-roading and topless touring.
Rapidly diminishing resale / trade in values on the Jeep.

The first, third, and fourth points cover my thoughts at times (ride, power, been there done that).

But not enough to jump shark just yet...

Never know what future holds.

My buddy has a 2017 L5P Duramax (deleted - shhhhhh....) and its a hoot. So damn comfortable and pulls like a cargo ship. (Denali 2500HD).

I keep telling the ole lady we are not becoming a travel trailer family, but if i keep enjoying going to races, and we keep taking the kids on nice summer trips - who knows. Thats too far out for me to determine right now, but I am open minded.

I can understand that.
The Gladiator doesn't ride as good as most IFS pickups for sure. But it rides better than our old 02 Dodge 2500, slightly worse than our 15 Ram 2500 and marginally better than our JLURD.
I have the EcoDiesel so I'm not too worried about longevity. I like to play still when I get a chance, so a Jeep will be in my stock for the foreseeable future. Resale isn't as much of an issue of you plan to keep it for 25+ years.

Enjoy your current ride.
