I have a 2021 Gladiator. Left it in drive the other night and turned it off. Next morning batteries were dead. I moved the shifter to park position, charged the battery. Still doesn't crank. Put 2 new batteries in and still smae problem. It tells me the vehicle is not in park. Shifter is locked in park. I removed the shifter boot and can move it but still nothing. Any ideas?

Try unhooking the batteries for 10-15 minutes and let the system reset, maybe that will help?

I'm wondering if, as the batteries were slowly dieing you had some serious delay chatter. Time to get out a meter and start probing. Check pdc fuses and the N fuses.

Been through all this. And to add insult I can't get the local jeep dealer service department to even call me back. When you call the young lady ask for your name and number and say they will call you back. They don't. I don't want to ask questions, I just want them to come get it and fix it

Depending on how you replaced both batteries, you could have installed the aux first thus applying power immediately. While installing the main you could have killed the new aux. We don’t know how your replacement went. If you have it all put back together, check the voltage of the batteries. Put a battery charger on it and relax a bit. Wait a couple of hours or overnight if using a trickle charger before attemptong to start it. New batteries are not always fully charged. I would have suspected batteries.

i had this issue with my 2008 JKU. Ended up being the neutral safety switch.

Assuming you’re getting power (dash lights up, radio works, etc) and sounds like the shifter can move, try

-starting the truck in Neutral.

-shift through all the gears then start

-when in Park, push forward on the shifter slightly while attempting to start.

These are all things I tried on my JKU. Good luck!!

Sounds like it is electronically stuck in Drive. There is no mechanical connection to the gear shifting other that the Manual Park Release Cable.

I would try engaging the Manual Park Release Cable. Pulling it once should put it in Neutral, pulling it a second time should put it in Park.

I thought about this too but didn’t realize you could pull it a second time. That’s awesome.

Best bet - it still "thinks" it is in drive. Why leaving it in drive is a mystery - for now. Both batteries need to be disconnected. This should "kill" the memory. Place it back in park. Then, reconnect the batteries. Before cranking plug a code reader into the OBDII and read the codes. Make a note of them and then clear the codes. Cut the ignition off and then try starting.
