No this isn't about politics...

Attached is a PSI conversion chart from Discount Tire.

The load index on an OEM 2020 Sport S tire is 112 and recommended tire inflation is 36 psi. Load range is SL.

Using the conversion chart if one went to an E load range and a load index of 121 the correct PSI to inflate the tire will be 50.

BUT (following the fine print at the bottom of the PDF) if original tire is P Metric and are replacing with LT than the load of the tire is reduced by 10%. Which would give you a new load of 2223. Following the chart, you would have a new PSI of 45.

Is it that easy? Is there anything else that needs to be taken into consideration?

I do this without reading anything, by marking the tread with a piece of sidewalk chalk, and driving around.

I've never bothered inflating extra for cargo, and I simply run my trailer tires at max PSI.

I don’t know anything about that chart but there ain’t a Glady on the road that should be driving around with 50 psi in the tires.
Yeah. For sure. You’d feel pebbles on the road at that pressure!! I can’t imagine driving on a load range E tire at max pressure!!
I run my E rated duratracs at 30 cold.

E-load range tires are intended for one ton trucks.
The Gladiator is a half ton.
No need for the 50-80 pounds of air
even if the tire is rated for it
unless the Gladiator is overloaded.

The second consideration is
where it will be driven.
A mix of on and off road driving
36 will be fine.
At 50 pounds of air tires will spin
in sand, snow and on wet pavement.

I've been running 45 psi cold according to the chart and the ride seems pretty smooth. I commute 70 miles round trip to work so most of my miles are at highway speeds. I'm gonna do the chalk test this weekend to see how it wears.

Just out of curiosity what is the lowest psi on non-beadlock wheels when off road?

What type of offroad? In soft sand I have ran 12psi comfortably. That is with a Load Range D tire. Just regular trail riding I will run at 18psi. On road 33psi. 37x12.50x17 BFG KO2

If you really wanna be specific you get the inflation chart from the tire manufacturer and go by their specs but the chalk method is the best method.

I'll bite on that one, with OEM 245/70r17 I had tire squirm at I-state and hwy driving when not close to max pressure in tires. With the 33/10.5r17 tires I currently have handling is better around 45-50 on road use. This is with caveat my JT is heavy loaded most of the time. Never unloaded. On my recent trip I definitely noticed that it running 40-43 psi. Yes it rides smoother but wallow and some wandering at speed.

Be sure you pay extra and get Nitrogen in your tires, weighs less and is a much more comfortable ride, and it's better for the environment. Nitrogen for the win!

32 psi cold seems to be the best for me with chalk test and overall use with the factory Falken 33” tires on my Mojave

28 pounds on 37/12.5/17 Kenda klever and chalk test is still showing more wear on outside tread

You can contact the tire manufacturers as well. Sent Nitto an email with the specs on my Gladiator with 315/70r17 E load Ridge Grapplers and they recommended 35 psi. Pleasantly surprised they ride more comfortably than my 33” Falken C load M/Ts.
