Just throwing this out there to see how practical or if anyone has experience with this set up. Have the LSD in the rear of my Sport s six speed. Eaton just made e lockers available & thinking about putting one up front when I regear I like the LSD , as it doesn’t need to be activated while driving in winter conditions. Not looking to rock crawl, but for more challenging off roasting & beach running. Front locker could come in handy...

Literally what I decided to go with. I have an LSD on my Overland, and didn't really want to give that up for DD. Pre-ordered the Eaton to go up front. I'm hoping they start shipping because I have 4.88 gears arriving soon (initially ordered 5.13, but decided to step it down).

It seems like a pretty popular option if you already have an LSD in the rear. Unless you're doing some extreme rock crawling where you need to lock the front and rears, this seems like a winning combo.

Thanks for your input. Now all I have to do is figure out if I’m going to keep my current ride or jump on a Gobi if it comes out.

Watching this thread. Would an aux switch be used to engage the front locker?

Thats what I am going to do with mine. I wanted the LSD in the back for snow driving. Much perfer that than an open diff. Will go with an ARB and RCV's up front when the time comes. and if I really feel like I need a rear locker I will address that down the road.

Yes. I investigated the possibility of installing the Rubicon locker switch and it's basically a non-starter. It's possible there will be an option in the near future that will let you install it and get OEM functionality with a simple kit (not sure if I can say who it is), otherwise the only option now is through an aux switch or just any standard toggle switch.

In case one of my kids is driving, is it wired so that the diff won’t lock if inadvertently switched on at relatively high speed?

You have to set it up that way on an aftermarket switch panel.
Either a physical flip cover on a toggle switch or a primary power switch that allows the locker switch(es) to activate.
Nothing will prevent it from engaging when you press the switch if you direct wire it.
On the factory aux, there would have to be a speed restriction function. Which seems pretty far fetched, but maybe someone knows.

Given all the other functions it can tap into and override, I wonder if the Tazer could pull this off. Long shot, but never hurts to ask.

Is this a good answer to my question? Kinda surprised it would run thru ECU if the Gladiator was equipped from the factory with an open front diff.

May do this for my overland as well. I have a 12v background (from 2 decades ago now…)

Using my Voswitch aux switches:
-Locker activation wire will go to a single pole, double throw relay.
-one button will trigger the relay and “connect” the locker wire. Won’t provide power, simple trigger the relay to connect the wire.
-second button will send power to the relay to activate the locker.

Relay 1:
86 - ground
85 - aux switch “1”
30 - to locker

Relay 2:
86 - ground jumped over from 86 on relay 1
85 - aux switch “2”
30 - jumper from 85
87 - jump over to 85 of relay 1

Operation:
Press button “1” triggers relay one and connects locker wire which is on 30, and now 87 since you triggered it. No power yet.

Press button “2” to trigger relay 2. Opens relay between 30 and 87. Since you have 12v on 30, you’ll now have 12v on 87 once triggered.

With the jumper between 87 on both relays, button press 2 will send 12v to your locker which was connected on press 1.

EDIT- now that I see this on “paper” you could eliminate relay number 2.

Good to know, I'll probably go with this setup later (probably swap to 4.10 at the same time). Good use of the aux switches I think.

No you are engaging the locker with a switch the ecu won't have any control over it. They are talking about stock lockers and wiring.

I wonder if you can shut off the aux switches completely with a tazer. Just disable it until you need it.
