Jeep left me stranded yesterday, I was driving about 60 mph approaching a stop light I let off because it turned yellow but it was late at night and no cars were in sight so I let off the brake and accelerated. Right after that I started to lose power. I pulled over and the jeep turned off completely, I shut it off for a few seconds and attempted to start it and it just cranked for about 5-8 seconds but it didn’t turn on. A bunch of lights came on the dash. After that I didn’t attempt to crank it, I stepped out and noticed what looked like oil dripping down. This morning I went under the hood and jeep to inspect. And the weird thing is that the residue doesn’t feel like oil it almost feels like diesel. Any ideas of what it could be? I will be getting it scanned for CEL codes.
I noticed a lot of oily residue on the driver side top of the engine.

Engine is completely stock, I do have a mbrp dpf-back exhaust. Oil and filter every 5k miles and fuel filter every 10-15k

I have Jeep max care extended warranty. Will they fight me for the aftermarket exhaust ? Also I use Doc’s diesel filters. Wonder if that will be an issue with them as well.

Did you keep the factory exhaust and can put it back on? Pain in the ass but part of the questionnaire the tech has to fill out, for warranty, is to answer FCA’s question as to if its stock or modified. I think that’s the first question. There’s several other questions that follow but some will say that FCA has to prove if your modifications caused the malfunction.

You can try pressing the start button twice without starting it and see if any diesel fuel leaking anywhere.

2nd photo has oily residue all around the valve cover gasket. Almost feels like diesel to me.

The lift pump on these isn't weak sauce, did you try a couple key cycles? You'll know immediately if you popped a fuel line; in which case, easiest and least EPA friendly way is leave it in ACC and find where it's coming from.

An unrelated things I would check would be your battery terminals. It sounds dumb but if they aren't secure (my ground wasn't from the factory) it'll just die and/or throw a bunch of weird faults and get stuck in 3rd gear. Then... Address your leak you got going on.

Any chance you threw a scan tool on it?

I tried putting it on ACC a few times already and nothing is coming out. Battery is less than a year, I even put the aux back in. I’m looking into an Amazon scanner before I take it to the dealer Monday morning.
