Low MPG 2024 Rubicon X

Back in July I traded my 2020 rubicon gladiator for a 2024 rubicon X gladiator (dam ticking got loud and out of warranty). My new 2024 with ~3,000miles on it has been getting ~13.7 MPG. My 2020 was getting ~ 13MPG with some mods. I had a 3.5 inch Teraflex lift, alpine IR front lower control arms, 37x13.50r17 M/T, dirty life dt-2 wheels, steer smarts draglink, tie rod, track bar, Clayton rear track bar, Metalcloak ballerjoints, falcon ss, and rugged ridge front stubby bumper with 13k synthetic rope winch. I never changed the stock 4.10 gears. I just can’t figure out why this new gladiator is getting about the same mileage as my old one but completely stock. My previous gladiator stock was getting ~20MPG. Anyone else having a similar experience or maybe some insight?

lol! Honestly I’m light on the skinny pedal with this one because it’s new. My 2020 I would drive with a heavy foot.

My Mojave got 13-14 out the gate and it seemed like it took to about 4500 to get better mileage , I have gotten 18 around town and 21 highway since. Keep driving a bit and see what goes on!….Jack

I think my first tank averaged under 13 mpg... I did sit in it at idle playing around with the tech for a few hrs over the course of a couple of days. It did take a few thousand miles where I started to see average mpg of 16.5 to 17.5, I've been on a 2.5" lift and 37's almost 2 yrs and consistently average over 16 mpg on the stock 4.10 gears. Long highway trips I can get 18.5 to 19 mpg

Hoping the cafe standards and the epa crap get re written with a little common sense so they can bring the diesel back. Imagine getting 30mpg in a gladiator!

Very fine looking vehicle. Btw I think the newer grill is a huge upgrade on the old. Much better looking. Enjoy your ride

You are not the first to report low fuel economy. What is your daily route like, sit much in traffic, much stop and go, average speed,cruise speed on interstate, etc? I am on my third Gladiator and I have much better experience with fuel economy. I had a 2021 Rubicon on 37's and average was over 20 mpg in combined city/highway. My 2022 Sport S w/o Max Tow had 265/70r17's with no lift and averaged 22.3 in 19,000 miles of combined driving.

My current 2023 Sport S with Max Tow has 315/70r17's, 1.5 level and soft tonneau cover has averaged near 21 for the first 15,000 miles.

I live in East Tennessee. I rarely sit in traffic. I mostly travel 2/4 lane State Highway w/45 to 55 mph speed limits. On Insterstate I try to stay under 70 mph. On average I usually travel 375 miles between fill ups and my average speed is around 39 mph.

Sorry so long but my point is I have owned three Gladiator's with various modifications over a three year period. The constant is all have been driven on the same routes in the same driving style. My economy has been consistently better than the CAFE Ratings. I am very pleased.

My lowest average for one tank was 18.5 mpg. The variables were a 25 mile off road excursion, more sitting in traffic and more Interstate at 75 mph and up. Also I should note that on the two that I purchased new around 5,000 miles my fuel economy increased around 2 mpg.

I have not had a Mojave but two of mine had the same 4:10 gear and larger tires.

This has been my experience on the three that I have owned. If your driving is anything like mine your economy should not be that much worse.

Going to TN next week but using the Buick 32 mpg lol should be able to listen to the radio too! Funny. I do get 18.7 mpg with the the Rubicon if I stay under 70

All of that extra weight (especially wheels and tires) has got to be part of it.

My stock Sport gets 20 MPG around town and 25-27 MPG on the highway (manual transmission).

Can't blame it on the body shape.

I don't fish! Look back at my previous post for pictures posted showing total miles traveled, mpg and engine hours. I am an example of the fuel economy that our Gladiator's are capable of. This is representative of not one, but three Gladiator's. I assure you this has been true in my case. Your mileage may differ due to driving style, terrain, speed and location.

I’m in SC. Fairly flat terrain and I’m getting 17mpg on 37s and 4.88 gears in my 2024 JT. I haven’t dipped below 15mpg even with a heavier foot and city driving
