They aren't street legal; doesn't really impact Jeep's actual products much other than imitating their looks

Mahindra had a deal with Jeep since Willys to produce licensed CJs in India. They were still producing CJ3 bodies up to 2010. Jeep just doesn't want them bringing them stateside.

I get that. I'd prefer Jeep to be the only "jeep" in the US.

Lol, I guess I should have read the whole article. I had NO idea it wasn't street legal and I also had no idea the stats are so sad on that thing. 62 HP. Ha!
I just remotely met a peer at work who lives in India and uses one of these for off roading on sand dunes. He sent me photos and it looked like a legit ORV.

I test drove one a few years back and would love to have one. In some states there is a "back door" way to get one approved for road use. If it wouldn't be a unnecessary expense for me I'd buy one. Great little vehicle overall. No it's not a Jeep Wrangler or a CJ but beats the crap out of a regular side by side. The US ones don't have turn signals and all the lights and reflectors or airbags for new road vehicle.
