Ordered my 2021 August 7, last month. I read bad reviews on manual trans. This is the first time I've read positive feedback. I'm glad. I want to add 35's or 37's. Do I need to regear for 35's or not? What about 37's?

Welcome to the obsession!! OlllllllO. Depends on where you live and how you drive. My thoughts for hilly Pennsylvania....A Rubicon with 4.10 gears can get away with 35s with minimal issues. 37s (probably the route I’m going) will likely need re-geared to restore some pep. My manual does everything I need it to do. Good luck! https://www.youtube.com/c/JTRSpartacus

Ok everyone...so I got the truck, drove it for several weeks, and have since lifted it. I went with the Evo 4.5" lift, 40" Nitto Trail Grapplers, Borla exhaust, upgraded almost all of the drive train. For gears I went with 5.38. It towers over my JK which is not small but still rides like a freaking dream. I'm so happy with it. Next month it goes in for a Ripp supercharger. :involve: Check it out!:

No need for 35s, probably a good idea for 37s. The manual transmission is great. I suspect a lot of bad reviews are from early ones pre-TSB. I test drove one at a dealer before ordering mine, clutch felt like it had no return spring. Only after the test drive and my commenting on it did the dealer admit it was due for a clutch change.

I will say... If you have to regularly back up an incline you might want to regear even at 35s. Reverse on a steep hill requires a bit of clutch work.

Finally good news on my manual Sport S delivery
I reached out to the Northeast Regional Government sales manager (I run a government fleet) and he told me I’m in E status (framing) so my truck is being built. He anticipates my 2021 Sport S manual delivery in 30 days or less (no promises lol) and I ordered mine in mid August.
mans thanks for the tire advice. I’m dying to replace the stock tires(with 33”-34” no lift) but may wait a few thousand miles first.

Rubicon w/ 4:10 gears, manual trans, 2" lift with 37's. I am running my 37's at 32psi so they are actually 36". Love everything about it but 4:88 gears are in my near future as I rarely get into 6th gear.
Did you ever regear to 4:88s? I have the same setup as you and I am contemplating going with 4:88s but would like some feedback to see if its worth the money.

Not yet. I have a 2300 mile trip coming up in September including hitting Ophir and Black Bear pass in Colorado. NO WAY I will do it without the 4:88's. I will update my build w/ pricing and thoughts once it is complete. FYI- I am going with the MOPARE 4:88's from a local Jeep dealership so I know I am going to pay more than taking it elsewhere.

I was planning to go the same route with mopar and at my local dealership. I would assume since it's mopar and done by the dealer it would still be covered under warranty. Have you priced it or talked with the dealer about warranty issues?

Looks GREAT. I'm picking up my 6MT Rubi on Wednesday. I went with the MOPAR 2in lift and 35s. But only because 40s and regearing and a supercharger was too much for me. BUT - I am in awe of your rig! Looks great. PS I married my wife because on our third date she asked if she could borrow my car (87 VW GTI 5MT). That settled it for me. My daughter and son are both going to learn manual first JIC zombie apocalypse! Keep the pics coming!

My manual JTR featured in Truck Central in case anyone is interested. On 37s, stock wheels with a 1.5” Teraflex Leveling kit. Stock gears but planning to re gear to 4.88 or 5.13 #JTRSPARTACUS

6 speed manual overland in Very hilly in western Maryland. I recently regeared from 3.73 to 4.56 to go on my LE rims and 285/70/17 tires.

Loving the upgrade, I finally don’t lose speed and power so tremendously going uphill. Cruise is useable.

I had been considering upgrading to 285/75/17 (33.8”) after regearing but this setup feels great on the Rubi rims. I am thinking I won’t go any bigger than 295/70/17 (33.3) and probably won’t do that until the wildpeaks need replacing.

I have the JTR manual with 37s and re-geared to Dana 5:13s. I think the manual gets a bad rep because the Gladiators are under geared stock. The problem is that normally, if you cannot use 6th, you cannot also use 5th either.... With the 5:13s, both 5th and 6th pull inclines. You can also use the cruise control because you do not have to shift out of 6th that much. City mileage also goes up. Even with 37s, the 5:13s give you much more torque than stock and it feels like the motor has a supercharger on it. It is like a totally different truck. I bet quarter mile times have gone way down - at least a second or more. Basically, you have two more gears down low to get the torque going.

Here is a way to help you decide. If where you live, you feel like you cannot stay in 6th as much as you like when your JTR is stock, then, you feel under geared stock. So, this means that where you live, you would have been happier with 4:56s stock with 33s instead of the 4:10s. In fact, this is the way I felt where I live. When I took that into account, it was easy to choose Dana 5:13s instead of the 4:88s for 37s.

Who has the manual transmission and do you like it? I have a Gladiator on order with a manual...hoping I didn't make a mistake. Next question - I am trying to figure out how big I want to go with the lift and tires. Considering 40's but would need to figure out what to re-gear it to. Maybe I should just go with 37's and the stock gears? Any opinions welcome...
Me too, but I've been driving MT Tacomas since 1999, and avoided all the AT issues that they have. The Gladiators have a great AT. I test drove them before I ordered my JTR, and almost switched to AT.
