Towing won’t be bad unless you are trying to back the camper Into a tight spot uphill jackknifed. Then just put the truck in low range for more control.

I have towed my 5500k + boat and trailer around with my 20 year old M/T Tacoma with less horsepower, shorter wheelbase, drum brakes and no weight distributing hitch for the past 3 years. It’s only irritating when trying to maneuver it up a hill backwards without dragging the trailer or rudder.
I really need to test drive a manual jt to get the feal of it as well. Newest Mt I've driven is my 06 gto and that's pretty old being this is a 2020 and completely different setup with muscle car vs trail crawler.

Every where I look on here there is nothing but horror stories on delays and whatnot. It can’t all be bad, is the majority of people’s experiences bad or good? Reading in the forum you’d swear everyone’s orders are a disaster, but I see trucks at every dealer around here and a few driving around. There has to be some smooth builds.
My posts was referring to more than just manuals. There are horror stories everywhere. JB hell, KZ hell, D hell, you name it. How many are getting smooth, quick builds? Anyone?
The horror stories are largely a matter of unmanaged expectations and unforeseen delays. It's seems some people were expecting a boutique experience tracking their jeeps builds, with up to the minute info and detailed info as to part shortages and issues with production etc.

I'm not defending FCA and some of the issues, but some folks are just a little unreasonable. Threatening on the forums to cancel orders, tagging jeepcares with snarky comments that are simply unproductive. A couple hundred pissed of people is of minor concern in the big picture.

Some folks got a raw deal, granite types, LE types, etc. But do people really expect Jeep chat to tell them specifics about QA issues on the production line? Does it matter at the end of the day why you jeep is delayed? Do you still want the damn thing?

IMO, Jeep needs to pull the pizza tracker and just quote 3-4 months for all builds, we'll call you when it's ready. I think we have access to just enough info to get ourselves spun up.

For all the bluster and venting we do on here, I've yet to see anyone post that they are unhappy with their purchase when they get it. Order your jeep, it's going to take a few months, if it shows up sooner great. That's a smooth build to me........

Very well put Evilhomer!

I live in the automation/production world every day. When I sit back and attempt to imagine the shear number of potential combination of builds available and then trying to manage the supply of everything, delays and issues are inevitable. Quite honestly, I'm amazed they still offer the level of customization in today's world, but that's one (1) of the reasons we are all here.

Five (5) week builds are out there, but in reality, anything under eight (8) weeks is like winning the lottery. I was told 8-12 weeks is fairly standard (even when I discussed ordering my 2015 JKUR) so I'm hopeful the majority of that time is normally spent in "D" status and once the ball is rolling (all parts are in stock) things go quickly. It's scary how quickly they can put these damn things together. I've seen it first hand and it literally makes your head spin!

Take the plunge, join the team, celebrate (eventually) with all of us. Just don't disappear once your prize arrives, there will always be someone needing a pick me up who's waiting in line.

My experience has mostly been a good one. My dealer had bad intel and told me 4-6 weeks when I first ordered mine, but other than that I can’t complain. FCA chat told me 8-12 weeks when I first started checking with them and I’m at just under 11 weeks and my truck is in transit KZ status now. I should see it at the 12-13 week mark. My build progressed mostly within the timeframes I was quoted by the folks at FCA chat, and they were mostly very helpful. I got frustrated several weeks back just before it got built, but looking back it was moving along as it should. Being on this forum with y’all has been a great experience as well during the waiting period. I’ve got my build sheet, window sticker, and I’m tracking it on trains/trucks so I know it will be very soon. Going on family vacation for the next 8 days so I should be seeing it very soon when I get back

I getcha. Basically, if you want what Jeep is pumping out, it's going real well. Just go get one.

Custom orders... not so much. To a degree that's to be expected with a brand new vehicle.

I suppose I'm just a little disappointed that they didn't put more priority into their most engaged and loyal customers (see Granite LE), the ones that care enough to factory order over pumping volume into the market.

But it's a business, and someone decided that was more important. I'd guess something along the lines of a bunch of everyday sales make more money than a relatively few dedicated buyers, who will probably bitch, moan, and ultimately buy one anyways, which we here are doing.

We're still just in the bitching phase.

The burst of initial orders will eventually peter out and the process will improve.

I agree with both of you. Part of the problem is we live in a world where people expect a "first in, first out" when it comes to their custom orders. The reality is FCA has to plan to manage and keep a production line going practically 24/7 and those shortages have to be planned around and people bumped back to wait.

First time taking it off road and it preformed perfectly. The only issue which is known is the longer turning line. I was able to control my speed easily and had no issues stalling or finding the right gear. Only got it stuck once which almost flipped me over I think the longer bumper saved my arse on that one.
