I suspect EPA, and mileage mandates have more to do with going auto only. If I recall correctly even Porsche is going all auto.
I had a 2022 JTR manual and it got better mileage than the 2024 JTR auto.

It's rated for 1mpg better highway. Stock i got 24mpg out of it on long 55mph drives.

There have been article that the manual was going away completely from all vehicles. I think the only manual mid sized truck will be the Tacoma now and for cars it is probably the Subaru WRX and the BRZ which is also the Toyota FRS. Odd they are saying the V6 Wrangler next year will only be manual and wonder if really only auto and the journalist have it backwards?
I had a 2015 BMW Z4 with a MT and that car screamed down the highway. No MT now.

About 16 at 75 mph, and lucky to get 17 at lower speeds. Lifted and 35s I suspect.

Once I went to 35s, on the stock 4.10s, in the summer I get the exact same. 16.5 pretty much all day.

I might consider that PHEV JTR next year or probably the year after, but we'll see. We drove over to Arizona from Albuquerque a couple weeks ago, and I got tired of stopping for gas every 200 miles. The off-road work (I'm a geologist) was great, but getting there was costly.

Oh all you young whipper snappers...... Wait until you're older and your hips, knees, tendons, & muscles don't work like they used to. You'll be glad to have an Automatic. 😁

Same reason why I'll probably stay with the stock 33's.........cuz the older I get, the harder it is to climb up into anything.

Using a clutch is THE ONLY THING that keeps those knees, tendons and muscles from achieving complete ATROPHY.

Maybe…for some…..but not for others. Too many variables to consider in each persons body make-up.

It‘s NOT the only thing you can do. . I do exercise, weights/stretching videos and/or walk daily. You need to do a variety of exercises & stretches to keep your knees, tendons, & muscles from atrophy.

If you drive a lot and use a clutch, could be considered ‘repetitive motion’ and not ergonomically correct.
