I hope everyone is doing well. I have a question about my Max Tow gearing for my Sport S and really hoping someone with the knowledge can help me understand it.

Long story short, my JT got hit and the front axle broke. They now have to completely replace that front axle. I have the Max Tow Package on my Sport S so I have the 4.10 gear ratio. The thing I’m not understanding is that on my estimate, the shop said they had confirmed with the dealer that the replacement axle came “without 4.10:1 4LO.” What does this mean? If I had a 4.10 axle originally, shouldn’t the replacement have the 4.10:1 4LO on it as well? Or am I just completely misreading what this description is actually telling me? Does that statement have to do with axle or does it have to do with the transfer case? I’m just trying to wrap my head around it and I obviously don’t know enough to figure it out. I just want to ensure the correct replacement is getting installed. Thanks!

I would assume it specifying that it's the wide d44 with 4.10s but with out the elocker...the rubicon's get the lockers and 4:1 LO range via the rocktrac tcase.

So yes it should be the right axle

Check to be sure, but sounds like they are talking about the 4:1 transfer case Low Range that comes in the Rubicon. Are they replacing your T-Case? Many times an accident like this, hard enough to damage your front axle, will damage the transfer case and front drive shaft.

Make sure you check with them. All Max Tow’s come with wide axle and 4:10 gearing. If I were you and they had to replace the t-case, I would pay the extra for the 4:1 rubicon transfer case if that is possible for the shop.

Make sure they aren’t confusing the T-case spec with your front and rear axle ratio’s. That would not be good if they put sport 3:73’s in the front which will not match your rear 4:10 ratio.

Thanks for the reply. I don’t believe they are replacing the T-case at all, but they are doing a full replacement on the axle. I’m thinking you might be right about that description matching the T-case spec and not the gear ratio spec, but I guess it’s probably a good idea to just talk with them and have them walk me through everything just to be safe. God forbid they put the wrong axle on there. I know they confirmed it with the dealer, but everyone is human and anyone can overlook something.
