I weighed my Rubicon on a CAT scale recently to determine if I will be able to tow it with a new motorhome we're considering. With a full load of fuel (~126 lbs) and the tow plate hardware (~40 lbs), it had a gross weight of 5140. (I do know I can reduce quite a bit of weight by simply running a lower fuel level). I was thinking about swapping out the exhaust to save some weight, but I can't seem to get a definitive answer on the weight of the MBRP system (part #S5537304). From other posts on the forum, the stock exhaust system looks like it weighs in at 47-48 lbs.

I've talked to two vendors and one said the MBRP is 50 lbs and the other said 30 lbs. I told them I was looking for the net weight of the exhaust, not including packing materials, etc. They both acted as if this question had never been asked before and seemed quite perplexed as to why the shipping weight wasn't sufficient information. I contacted the manufacturer this morning and they show this system at 50 lbs boxed and a net weight of 32.3 lbs.

So, I figure my best chance of getting a reliable answer is to ask whether anyone on the forum has this stainless version of the single MBRP system and, if so, if you know the weight (not including your Gladiator and not including cardboard boxes!). Thanks for any info if you have this particular system.

Stock is ~47lbs from the flange backwards. I know my magnaflow was 34lbs flange to tip when I weighed it so I'd bet you'll be somewhere around that.

So far, I have talked to the manufacturer and two different vendors for the stainless version of the MBRP. The weights they reported were all over the map: 25 lbs, 32.3 lbs, and a rather heavy 44.5 lbs. Based on the OEM weight reported above, I'd be spending around $500 to add 1.5 lbs to the exhaust weight. I think I'll just hold off for now.

I installed the mbrp system last night. Around ~30 lbs seems about right. As I was cutting (sawzall) the OEM system out, I was comparing the weight and the MBRP exhaust is significantly lighter.

I would recommend holding a little longer though. I took it for a drive today and felt a bit of a drone at 2500 rpm. I love how the MBRP system sits in the truck, so I’m going to try and tune it with a resonator.

Helpful feedback—thanks for the reply! I hope you can get the drone resolved.

Ok! Drone solved :) Added a few details in my build thread, but simple answer was the vibrant performance ultra quiet resonator mounted right in front of the muffler. Reused everything in the MRBP kit and it just required two more clamps and a little pipe cutting.

Exhaust sounds awesome now and I can barely hear it in 7th and 8th with the music off.
