Just Do It !! Love mine nothing beats OE! BTW the flap doesn’t move it’s just a cover/plug to snap in to block rain or snow. Been through both never a problem! Coupled mine with a AWE tread exhaust and a Sprintbooster. Big difference opening up that 3.6L. And to all the naysayers, spend the money and buy those items and you’ll be a believer too…

Looks cool! I would paint the little grill to match the color of the body, then after it has dried for a couple days, I would then carefully brush on the black R E C O N missing letters O N. In an attempt to make it look more original and not missing anything.

Hey Gang,

Just wanted to toss my .02 out there for this OEM piece.
I know intakes are considered snake oil to most, but i grabbed myself one of these cold air intakes. Mopar # 77072433AC dirt cheap(i work in the industry), i would never pay full retail on an item like this of any brand but i couldn't turn it away.

I opted to NOT cut into my hood for the full "cold air" ducting that was provided with the kit. Although the instructions and all provided hardware were present. My balls shrank regardless. just couldn't do it.

Install took 30 mins max 6 screws total and a few hose clamps.
The new intake piping is rigid OEM quality, eliminates all baffles and little noise reduction pockets the factory one has, it also increases in size from throttle to the filter housing by about an inch. Filter reminds me of an AEM dry flow type. I already had this filter installed so now i have a spare for a rainy day.
Nice little piece overall and the filter cover has a cool graphic on it.

First thing i noticed was in fact a snappier throttle cruising off a light and getting up to speed on the highway.

Engine noise is a little throatier but not in a bad way.

I didn't expect much tbh, but for what i paid for it, there is no real loss and i am pleasantly surprised.

I cant say whether the outside air duct via cutting the hood will make a marginal difference or not but the theory of it kind of makes sense and the OEM parts to utilize it are nice and look very OEM stealth. It came with rivets, a template to pre mark for cuts, a bottle of loctite brand adhesive (epoxy), and a nice factory piece to cover the hole area with a flap that only opens when air is being sucked in.

I doubt the "performance" filter will result in any noticeable change in intake noise. It is the design of the intake itself that impacts induction noise.

I installed the Mopar Cold Air Intake without the performance air filter or the hood cutout. I used the stock air filter. There is a significant increase in intake noise when 'getting on it' but otherwise a very slight noise increase when just cruising.

The stock intake tube has a resonator chamber on it to help keep things quieter. So if there's any difference with a "performance" filter it'll be very little. On the other hand, the Mopar cold air intake is one of the most expensive ones you can buy. Lot of money for some noise IMO.
