Interesting. I’ve never heard of this type of coverage. I’ll have to see if Progressive offers anything similar. Of course, the value would be determined by not just the deductible but how much it adds to the premium. At least it’s a possible alternative.
It's less than $100 every 6 months:

Hmm. So in ~39 months you will have paid out approx the same amount as the MOPAR coverage quoted above that covers the vehicle for 96 months. If that was the only criteria to weigh it would seem that the MOPAR coverage would be much better, but it’s not that easy because for people like me that rarely keep a car for more than 2-3 years, the Geico way would be best. And there’s a few other considerations, such as is the extended warranty transferable. I’m really going to have to think hard about it if I pick up an extended warranty. I’ve generally been against extended warranty’s as they’re a huge cash cow for insurance companies; most financial advisor types say stay away and just put the equivalent amount of money in savings. Pros and cons to both approaches, and I realize that most people view them as a huge waste of money, but I’m big on peace of mind.

The difference with what I have thru Geico is that there's no mileage cutoff and no limit to the number of years the policy lasts. As long as I keep my Gladiator covered with Geico, I have the Mechanical Breakdown Insurance. For only $87 every 6 months, that's peace of mind for me AND it's cheaper than what MOPAR offers.

The cost to buy the warranty increases as your mileage / time from initial purchase increases.

I bought mine from Tom a month after delivery for just over $2500. (125k mile / 8yr warranty)

My contract also lists that it is transferrable for $50 if you do it within 30 days of sale/transfer of vehicle. I purchased the warranty back into 2020 during covid.

I bought my 2022 Gladiator exactly 2 years ago and it had run flawlessly until about a month ago. It had 33,000 miles on it and just shy of 35,000 now. Prior to the little issue I had, I was planning to just continuing to drive it for years. The slight issue made me consider purchasing a factory extended warranty just in case another issue pops up, so off I went researching the options out on the market. I needed to determine how long I intend to keep the Jeep and how many miles I think I might put on in the coming years. I like the truck and do tend to keep vehicles for many years, so that will impact my decision. I also used to drive A LOT, but with having a new puppy in our lives, one who will be going to the shop with me every day, my driving habits will be severely curtailed. In the past, 15-20,000 miles per year is typical for me, but I can see it being closer to 10,000 for the next few years.

A few minutes into searching for “Jeep extended warranty” lead me right back here to discussions on “to-do or not-to-do” as well as pricing. I decided that I would rather spend the $$$ for a warranty than keep the $$$ in my pocket and pay for repairs down the road. My truck is all stock, so I don’t think that there would be any issues of a denial due to any modifications. There are discussions of the different warranties that are offered by each dealer and the factory extended warranty. So I began making my calls. I called my selling dealer and they instantly began pushing an aftermarket(a/m) that they have had good luck with getting customers repairs covered. It was a zero-deductible, 8 year and 120,000 mile offering. I told him that I would rather go with the MOPAR factory extended warranty and he spent the next 3 minutes telling me the advantages of the a/m over the factory focusing on how much less expensive it was. I again told him that’s not what I wanted and asked if he could just forward me pricing on both.

Next was a local Jeep dealership where the conversation in the finance managers office went the EXACT same way. Their go-to was from JTR? Never heard of them, but that was their recommendation and it took some discussion to get a quote on the MOPAR, which he eventually did.

Third one was another local Jeep dealership and you can guess what happened, I asked for a factory warranty and he quoted and told me all of the virtues of the Zurich warranty. When I again explained that I wanted the factory one, he came back a few minutes later with that quote. It was a bit of a joke by this point.

I came back to this forum and looked at Granger Motors and followed their link to the on-line warranty quote link. It did quote the factory extended warranty, but at a higher price than expected, certainly not $25-$50 over cost. Some more searching lead me to Ziegler, another on-line quote system that was considerably less expensive for the same factory coverage(years & mileage). Strange and I did post on another thread about the discrepancies in pricing. Granger did eventually post in that thread and sent me a email to re-ly to for a quote. I did and forwarded my info asking for a quote. While looking at another extended warranty thread here, I found the contact information for a gentleman named Tom Winkels and the dealership that he works for. It was worth a shot as I was hoping to speak with a real person rather than trusting a website and spending $4000 at the touch of the enter button. I left a message at the number in the thread and much to my surprise, I received a call back in about 1/2 an hour. He introduced himself and i gave him the info on my Gladiator. While on the phone, he looked everything up and told me his COST on the warranty and told me that my price is his cost plus $25. Nothing else, bottom line, $3460!

When Granger finally did reply to my email, they were the same price, but it was only after going to their link, finding that it didn’t seem correct, inquiring as to why, receiving an email to reply to and more emails back and forth. No Phone number, nobody to speak with and no way to have questions answered other than waiting for an email. I may be old-school, but it’s reassuring knowing that I can speak to someone when I want to buy something.

I had quotes ranging from $4,995 down to $3,460 for the same coverage, 8 years and 125,000 miles for my 2022 Gladiator. I went with the company that called me back, spoke with me, explained everything and they were also the least expensive.

If anyone is looking for a great value on an extended warranty, I can’t say enough good things about this gentleman and his company:

Sent them an email and it got bounced back as undeliverable. Called and asked to talk to someone about an extended warranty and they sent me to a voicemail. Nobody called me back. Called back and the same thing happened. want to get an estimate, but they don’t seem to want to play?

Hi everyone,

I've noticed a lot of discussions here about extended warranties for Mopar vehicles. As someone who works in the industry at a family-owned Chrysler Dodge Ram Jeep dealership, I'd be happy to share some insights and answer any questions you might have about Mopar's Maximum Care, Added Care Plus, and Powertrain Care Plus plans.

Our small dealership has been around since 1926, and we're passionate about helping our customers make informed decisions about their vehicle protection options while getting a great deal. Whether you bought your car recently or a while ago, there are still opportunities to get a genuine Mopar service contract that fits your needs.

Feel free to ask me anything about these plans or about our experience with Mopar warranties. I'm here to help!

You can reach me through our website, https://www.moparmaximumcareplans.com text my cell for fastests response at 765-222-1356 or email [email protected]

Thank you, Victor Riedman

Older thread, but...

I just bought a ’24 Gladiator last week. Like the OP’s experience, the dealer closest to me, family owned and where I have had otherwise good experiences, really did not want to quote the Mopar extended service plan. They “like” Assurant”. I have never bought an extended factory warranty/service plan in 50 years of vehicle ownership, but figured with all the electronic gizmos and jimcracks it might be worthwhile.

I really didn’t like the idea of buying a “3rd party” warranty, but there isn’t anywhere else I ever see us getting the vehicle serviced besides this dealership, and the plan is cancellable and refundable, prorated of course.

I used to drive about 24,000 miles a year, but I’m retired, so I’m a lower mileage driver now. After the finance guy presented multiple options, coverages, and price points, he presented an Assurant 10 year- 100,000 mile plan, $100 deductible, and transferrable, that provides their top tier of coverage. $1974.00

Thinking this vehicle will stay in the family (wife will want to keep a small truck in the driveway if I kick-off, or we often pass vehicles down to the kids, wife’s idea). So I bought it.

We’ll see how it all goes.

PSA: I just wanted to correct the email for Tom. It was a good thing I called as well because otherwise I would have just blown off his lack of response. However, I had called and left a VM and he called me back and confirmed he did not receive an email from me using the email provided above. I have attached his corrected email.

Has anyone been told that the Mopar warranties sold from Tom and others begin from the day you purchase them? I'm being told that the Mopar warranties actually go all the way back to the first in-service date (or date when the original owner bought the Jeep new). So in effect, if I were to purchase a 7-Year Mopar MaxCare warranty and I bought my Jeep two years ago, I'd effectively only be getting a 5-Year Mopar MaxCare warranty. Does this sound right to y'all?!

That's how the Mopar Extended Warranty works, regardless of who it is purchased through. The start date is the original sale date of the vehicle. If not used, it can be cancelled and refunded, or the value can be rolled forward into a new Extended Warranty on a new Vehicle. This is for Extended Warranties purchased during the original 3/36 warranty period. I'm not sure how it works with the Extended Warranties purchased after the original 3/36 warranty has expired.

I almost bought an extended warranty but decided against it after comparing the price of it to what I have with Geico. For those with Geico, Mechanical Breakdown Insurance will cover you as long as you own the vehicle and keep your policy with them.

Is that standard for their auto policy or an add on? Assuming the latter, how much $?

Sorry to bring up an older thread. This was the first hit in a search.
I bought my gladiator in January from a dealer. Brand new 23.
They asked me if I wanted any kind of extended warranty or service contract and I said no.
We kept going in the guys office and it turns out he’s a huge fan of my son who is a goalie drafted by the Philly Flyers. So we go on for a an hour with him asking me all kinds of NHL stuff.

Few thousand kms later and I need an oil change. I got the oil changed and I go to pay and they said no it’s free. I was a little puzzled but got the hell out of there as fast as I could before they realized they made a mistake!!! This went on for 5 oil changes. I look both ways, make sure no one is watching and sign my name and run.
Someone said oh you get 5 free oil changes when you buy a new vehicle. Ok.
Just rolled over 46,000kms and needed a 6th oil change and thought I would have to pay. They say we need 3 signatures from you before you leave since you’re under a warranty service contract!! First time I heard that. Again, I sign my name and get the frig outta dodge!!!
Maybe the finance guy I got along with when I bought it gave me the service contract anyway as a favor?!!
I didn’t look them up, and know nothing about them other than I get free oil changes!!!

It depends on the dealer. When I bought my first Gladiator in July 2019, it included three free oil changes as part of the Jeep Wave program, and six free oil changes paid for by the dealer.

When I got my second Gladiator, from the same dealer, it only included the two free oil changes from the Jeep Wave program.
