From my MPG's as of late you would be happy with what you are getting vs what I've been getting to the point it's dropped my overall MPG's since I got mine. Way back in my ownership of my 2020 Sport S Max-Tow, I was getting at times around 25-29 MPG's. As of lately I'm averaging 13.6 MPG's. ? I've been towing a trailer just about every time I'm driving it in last year plus. Last oil change I had drove it less than 500 miles without a trailer I'm sure. Probably less than 1200 miles without it in last two oil changes. Last one was less than 8000 miles on the oil life. Towing one of my trailers drops six MPG's just pulling it, I've worn the tires out on it.

A detail that is another factor is what is in or on your JT too. Extra stuff? Topper R.T.T. A few things to think about too.

Oddly, my JT gets better mpg without me in it.

I guess that's what my next question was, if the Willys just naturally get better MPGs than the Mojave because of weight/aerodynamics. We actually both just filled up from the same gas stations within 24hrs of each other, so I don't think that plays a huge role. Her tire size was corrected using the Tazer with actual size, not just 35" lol.
I fully understand there are many factors that could possibly play a factor in the results. but I was just looking at it from the simplistic pov that a lifted JT with 3.73s and 35s gets better than a stock vehicle. Since its pounded in everyone's head here and everywhere else that it just won't/can't. Again, Willys vs Mojave, I know. But the fact that it's that much different in MPGs is kinda crazy. Also, hers has 10k miles my Mojave has under 2,500 miles. Just to add that in case someone asks or adds that to the equation. lol
I think that the Mojave will get better mpg once the motor is broken in.

I have a 2021 Sport S with just BFG KO2 33"s and get 24.6 at 65mph and 23.7 at 75mph.
I verified it by doing the math and not relying on the trip computer.

And you have verified the ODOMETER accuracy using GPS and driving several miles?
(of course you went in and changed the tire size setting, after installing the bigger tires)

Yes and yes.
I made 4 trips to Virginia, about 376 miles one way and used my brand new Garmin GPS.
I got better mileage with the stock 245-75-17's before I switched to the BFG's.
Not to much difference in tire height.

I have a stock 2023 Willy’s and I am getting 13mpg average. I feel like something must be wrong. I know jeeps don’t get great gas mileage but 13…. That’s pretty bad!

It depends a lot on the driving conditions, plus the tires, if it's lifted, and how you drive. I have a stock Overland with the street tires. I get around 21mpg when traveling, but as low as 15mpg around town. I pack around extra weight, enough that the truck has no rake. I also run the tires at 39psi cold, which gets them around 44 after they warm up.

Mine has no lift. I haven’t added any weight other than a bigger jack under the back seat. I do drive mostly in the city but I would expect around 16/17 city and better on highway. The Willy’s does come with the 32” M+S tires, which I know don’t help but I see a lot of ppl with even bigger mud tires and lifts that get better than 13. I run my tires around 34psi cold.

Remember, new engines need time to break in before they get the best efficiency. Seeing as it's a 2023 and you just bought it, I wouldn't be dissecting your MPGs just yet.

Now compare to my Overland, if it was still stock........I'd have blown away that 19/20 mpg of your Willys.
Even now, I do get decent mpg. It's down a lot from what it was bone stock, the tires, and short lift and extra weight mattered a lot, but here's what mine was doing recently -

I'll say it again: that average is a rolling average. I know, you'll say that it's the same as the average in the actual trip screen, but I've seen differences of several MPG between the two.

That's how I managed this:
Jeep Gladiator More MPG confussion IMG_8260

Freeway, rural & city combined. Gentle acceleration, coasting to stops, etc. Not trying to hyper-mile, but watching the green gauge.

And right after this, I started going up and down hills in the central CA coastal region, and the average shown on the MPG instantaneous screen dropped to ~16, while this average stayed up over 19 (thus the, "Rolling Average," comment.)

Seems odd to me that after driving a vehicle for over 1000 miles the engine is still "breaking in" and gets terrible gas mileage because its still "breaking in". If this is true than its a terrible design imo. I highly doubt this has much to do with it though and even if it did we are talkin maybe 1-2mpg improvement. While driving, my cluster shows anywhere from 19-40mpg 95% of the time (when not accelerating from a stop). I have watched this while driving for the last 7 days and its pretty consistent between this range. However, the average displays between 12-13.5mpg. I feel like the average its displaying is wrong.

I had the pleasure of building a custom home for the head of R&D of Ethyl Oil. They make the additive packages for many of the oil companies.

He told me that it takes about 2000 miles to break in a gas engine and 10,000 or more miles for a diesel engine. This has been my experience as well.
