This is general to the Gladiator, but since I am only looking at Ecodiesels I will post here.

Yes I have done plenty of offroading with my wranglers in the past. Yes I have had both Rubicons and other models. Yes I have upgraded to airlockers on the non-rubicons I have had; as well as regearing and doing things like discos and using Antirocks on the non-rubicons.

With that all in mind.....would you pay the premium for the Rubicon....or get the options you want and get a Sport S or Willys?

Are the wider axles on the Rubicon worth it? Lockers can be installed and I would choose the Antirock swaybars....I think they work well.

I'm just trying to pin down my decision and I keep waffling on different options. I know I will ultimately make the decision....just trying to see what brought you to your decision on which model you purchased.

I've been really happy with my Rubicon vs an Overland I was strongly considering or buying a new truck exactly as I wanted it. The Rubicon I have only doesn't have the aux switches and is otherwise almost exactly as I'd order it (kind of a lower end Rubicon with the black flares and such). I would have chose silver vs the white. I am not afraid of axle/gear work at all. Ended up with a Rubicon diesel. With the 37" tires I run, I think I'd rather have more gear than the 3.73 gives me. I drove a 392 the other day and now I'm rethinking my whole JT thing..

I just REALLY like the 392. I need to go to southern UT this weekend (no small task with the eclipse?) and remind myself why the JT diesel is kewl. (a 5.7L Hemi factory JT would be PERFECT for me. Kind of stupid that couldn't happen) The deezel has long legs, getting good mpg and is just a fun cruiser. I've put over 21k on it in under 13 months. I must like something about it?

I’d get the Rubicon. I have replaced everything Rubicon except the 4:1 T-Case, hood and high line fender. Sold the rest too break even.
Don't think you could do a re-gear (some will say not needed) and replace the Tcase for the added Rubicon price.

Antirock sway bars have worked just as well as the E-disco for me.

I have both sport s and Rubicon both diesels and if I did it again id do both a Sport s models. Spend the money on quality upgrades that work better then factory regear is cgeap a couple grand we geared to a 4.88 and run 37's in my sport s and literaly will go anywhere my guys in my group go with there Rubi's in fact 4 out of the 10 guys have switched to the diesel since I bought mine. Good luck making that decision

Can you tell me since you have both...is the wider axle of the Rubicon worth it or even noticible?

Will you ever do anything that exceeds the capability of the stock lockers and sway bar disconnect? If yes, you can save some money up front by buying a lower trim and replacing with the aftermarket heavy duty parts. If maybe or no, get the Rubicon.

You are asking about the wider track axle, it makes a difference when specing your wheels and tires. The fact you are asking this tells me you plan to keep the D44, which is honestly no longer you grand father's D44, these things are beefed up to take a beating and especially beefed up on the Rubicon and on the diesel models. By no means the same as a D60 or above, but can take moderate off roading without a heavy foot on the skinny pedal way better than older iterations used to.
